Star Trek Discover Discussion: “Si Vis Pacem, Para Bellum”

If you desire peace, prepare for war.

Since the mid-season finale (when did that become an expected thing?) falls next week, and this week’s episode might as well have ended with, “To be continued!” we’ll save a full review for next week. Here’s a place for a Discovery discussion….

…of an episode where the crew actual discovers something. One of the plot threads, at least, hearkens back to those traditional Trek episodes, where a disguised location stands in for an alien planet and a few main characters encounter a problem.

  1. Was anyone actually surprised when the PandoraPahvo arc went the way it did? That’s not to say it’s a bad arc, and it even comes packaged with backstory/exposition and a somewhat interesting thought experiment about fear.

    • It’s no masterpiece, but that plot nicely recalled so many Trek “planet” episodes from previous series.

As a result, no, it wasn’t a surprise given that format and those characters.
