I like the fact that they hint at column A… then hint at column B… and when the show is over, you’re left with uncertainty. This could be a fantasy island type thing, or it could all be explainable… either way, it makes for good watching.
Red velvet lines the black box
Makes you reconsider the earlier decision to burn the bodies. On the one hand, they now have no hope of coming back. On the other hand, they now have no hope of coming back. But somehow, this doesn’t strike me as that kind of show.
Felt like Jeremiah – in a good way
The end felt kind of like the end of the first season of Jeremiah, where the question becomes a “where do we go from here”. I wonder what the schmuck’s (don’t know his name – the guy who’s running a ‘store’ and sold his water for fish) backstory is, and I also wonder what else we’re going to find out about Jack (I still harbor the feeling that Jack is going to turn out to be a “bad guy” of some sort).
Also of note – no ‘bear’ this week, nothing out of the ordinary (aside from the, um, empty ‘box’ at the end). Just “Survivor: The Drama”. And kudos to J.J. for pulling it off… I never thought it would be this good.
Terry O’Quinn, by the way, has got to be the hardest working man on television – I saw him on Lost and West Wing this week, and then I see on IMDB that he’s been in 73 movies. Plus he’ll probably be on Alias this fall, which sucks because I really like Locke. His was one amazing episode, and since I don’t see how he could’ve filmed both Alias and Lost, I fear he’ll be killed soon. But what an epitaph… “The guy packed four hundred knives. Who packs four hundred knives?”
