As Supergir’s Delayed Cap to season three hits, DC leaves for their summer vacation, just in time as Cloak & Dagger might actually work together this episode. Meanwhile, if you thought that you finally would have some free time, Luke Cage drops from Harlem (or Netflix) to take up your entire weekend on Friday!

Supergirl – S03E23 – Battles Lost and Won – (Season Finale) – Supergirl and team take on Serena in an epic battle for Earth.
Marvel’s Cloak & Dagger – S01E04 – Call/Response – Tandy and Tyrone come face-to-face as the two are able to sit down and talk. Having not been able to tell anyone else what they have been experiencing, both take the opportunity to finally confide in the one person who may truly understand what they are going through. Meanwhile, Otis reveals a secret side of himself and Greg seems to be onto something with Melissa’s case against Roxxon.
Marvel’s Luke Cage – S02 – After a sabotaged experiment leaves him with super strength and unbreakable skin, Luke Cage becomes a fugitive trying to rebuild his life in modern day Harlem, New York City. But he is soon pulled out of the shadows and must fight a battle for the heart of his city – forcing him to confront a past he had tried to bury.
Was it just me or did Supergirl feel off a bit? They seem to have rushed the conclusion with Reign in order to spend half the episode moving pieces around the board. As a result, the bit right before Reign’s final defeat felt a lot deus ex macguffin and could have used at least something to explain how that even worked (or remind us what went before that may already explain it).
“Moving pieces around the board” seems to sum it up nicely. It seems like they were handed next seasons cast list at the beginning of the episode and told “Make it happen.”
It felt like they added an episode and seemed to just hand wave over enough to try to spread stuff out. Legion felt a bit like that in its last episode, too.
I wonder if the general weakness of the latter half of the season has anything to do with the shakeup in the showrunning ranks.
I’ve noticed something of a trend in season finales lately. It seems a lot of them resolve the A plot at the midpoint and then spend the remaining half on the B, C, D,… plots and moving pieces around. It might work taking 15 minutes to clean up the details in a movie, but in a weekly episode, not so much. I wonder if it would have landed better if this and the previous episode had aired together. It was still weak, though.
