Premise:

As Caitlin and Thunderbird struggle to save the life of a mutant injured in the Inner Circle’s chaotic liberation of a psychiatric hospital, they discover clues to the identity of the powerful mutant Polaris and Andy were sent to retrieve. Meanwhile, as Jace joins up with the Purifiers to chase down the escaped mutants, he comes dangerously close to colliding once again with the Mutant Underground. (From Trakt.)

High Point:

While our new bad girl escapee might be bad news, her and Andy are cute together.

Low Point:

The dialogue was lacking this episode.  They actually used the ‘I don’t think it will, I know it will’ trope.

The Scores:

Originality: 5/6 While getting the rescue out of their shell with a love interest, it’s usually not young flirting, and we don’t usually see it play out this way.

Effects: 5/6 The reversals seem a bit off after they are done reversing, but when the practical effect seems to be your most questionable aspect of an effect, you aren’t too doing too badly.

Acting: 5/6 The kids out of their date are entirely convincing.

Production: 4/6 The script and dialog aren’t the best.

Story: 3/6 The story hinged on a lot of people treating a hate group as if they were cops with a stack of signed warrants that they desperately wanted to help.

Emotional Response: 5/6 I enjoyed all of the flirting.

Overall: 4/6 I enjoyed this more than last week, I don’t think they can do better.  I know they can.

In total, “afterMath” receives 31/42.

Bonus notes: I just realized that Urg was supposed to be Bishop.  He absorbs and redirects energy, lives a mutant dystopic lifestyle, and has that M.  Also, while appreciate that they justified getting the M mark on their eyes, their reasoning feels a bit too forced.
