Comments Blaine: I haven’t seen the movie, but this is based on Dave Barry’s first novel, and I enjoyed that quite a bit. They did have to change the ending, because of entirely coincidental similarities to real world events that took place during production, but I’m not sure what they changed it too. This has a stellar cast.

    This sounds fascinating, what happens?

      BWahahaha. It’s funny because it’s so very, very true!

    • In the original book, terrorists bring a bomb to an airport with the intentions of putting it on a plane. Not the best way to end a movie scheduled for release in April 2002.

  2. > Still arguably the greatest superhero movie ever made.

    Yeah I’ll take that argument (;

    I remember when that movie came out. My grandmother was going to take me to town to watch it, and we almost missed it because her car broke down. We did make it, though, and it was — at the time — the best thing 5-year-old me had ever seen.

    But good god (good Zod?) did that movie not age well, and I don’t just mean the terrible, terrible special effects (even for 1978!) The plot is pretty bad, the pacing is bad, etc. Now, Christopher Reeves does an amazing job. No argument. His transformation from Clark Kent to Superman is actually believable and was 99% acting, 1% glasses/hairdo.

    But a good movie it is not.

  3. The concept of Air Force One has not aged well after 2016. Could you imagine an SNL sketch for the sequel: Air Force Two: Sorry, I can’t help you. Bone spurs, ya know?

    I would pay good money for that.

    • I think we could get Air Force Two: The story where the president was actually a sleeper agent for a foreign party, he’s hijacking the plane himself, and it’s up to the former president to save everyone.

      • I would pay even MORE money for that film.

        OR

        The VP is the one that has to stop him. And the catchphrase isn’t “Get of my plane!” it’s “I’m the president now!”
