Finally, the picks of the week. Alex says, “I like Streets of Fire a lot. I know it’s a film that not for everyone, not because it’s content is risque, but because it’s a pulpy rock and roll musical with songs by Jim Steinman and it’s written and directed by Walter Hill – and it’s a film that thematically and stylistically influenced a ton of anime in the ’80s.” Blaine says, “as much as I enjoyed Crazy Rich Asians and the original Outer Limits, I have to give it to the Ingmar Bergman collection. I haven’t seen all of the titles within, but the Bergman films I have seen are universally fantastic, particularly The Seventh Seal, so I can comfortably recommend that set at that price.”
Right there with you, Alex. I just rewatched Streets of Fire the other day, not knowing this was due. It’s not a great movie, but I enjoy it, and as long as they got Steinman involved, I think this is one of the few movies that could stand to actually be rebooted.
