Premise:

The Mutant Underground wrestles with the idea of recruiting the Inner Circle to assist them. Andy considers reconnecting with his family when he learns about his father’s powers, but Lauren may not be as willing to have him back as their parents. Find out if the Mutant Underground and Inner Circle will be able to put their differences aside in order to save John from the Purifiers. (From Trakt.)

High Point:

This episode was intense, and I appreciated the visual of seeing how John’s mutant durability stood up to Jace’s outbursts.  Typically you do not get to see those shots land.

Low Point:

Andy’s rant about why the Purifiers were bad sounded like a teenagers rant, but that was because it didn’t make sense and seemed to be filled with half truths and irrelevant details.  It’s believable because he’s a dumb teenager, and his mind was messed was meddled with by the Frost sisters, but it didn’t come across as something we could believe.

Also, after making a scene about guns and flack jackets, none of those were used.  Was there a scene where they were rejected?

The Scores:

Originality: 4/6 The good guys putting aside their differences to save a teammate isn’t original.  The approach and the parts we saw was less common, however.

Effects: 5/6 A return to the typical quality we expect.

Acting: 6/6 The acting was in top form.  Jace felt betrayed and felt dumb for trusting his prisoner, Andy was proud and then confused when his pride wasn’t shared.

Production: 6/6 This felt like everything came together very well.

Story: 5/6 This story, though possibly set up with a bit of force, was very exciting.

Emotional Response: 6/6 This episode was intense.

Overall: 5/6 A great episode to return from their break.

In total, “eneMy of My eneMy” receives 37/42.
