Point Pleasant Discussion – “Pilot”

The new series from Marti Noxon, Ben Edlund, and Rick
Rosenthal stars a few recognizable
faces
. It premiers tonight on Fox at 8PM CST,
and the second episode airs tomorrow night at the
same time on the same channel. It runs the hour
after Lost, which puts it in the same time
slot as the returning Alias, which may make
things hard for it.

  1. Point Pleasant
this is really a steamy show, especially for the time slot. So many sex scenes. Hot stuff.

  2. Wow, that was bad
I don’t understand how Buffy writers are capable of creating such hackneyed dialogue. I’d have given up 20 minutes in if I didn’t have faith that Marti Noxon was going somewhere with it. I should have given up.

Proof that combining good actors + steaminess + the occult + several other formulaic good things can still result in crap.

  3. I don’t know
That was like The O.C. meets The Exorcist, but a little too heavy on The O.C. for my tastes. I do trust Marti, so I’ll be sticking around for a while, but it needs to get better soon for me to watch more than a couple of episodes.

Also, its amazing how the Jersey shore looks nothing at all like southern California. :)

My hope is that they are starting with more weight toward O.C. than Exorcist to pull in the O.C. kind of viewer and then shift slowly to the Exorcist. But the crappy dialogue and plotting may keep them away anyhow.

Have you seen the O.C.? Its a show full of crappy dialogue and plotting.

However, the second episode was almost all Exorcist, to use the same terminology. I take back most of what I said about the first episode. If the show ends up being like the second episode, it has 1) a good chance of being very different than everything else on and very enjoyable to watch (for me anyway), and 2) a good chance of being cancelled by Fox within the month.
