Fantastic Four Trailer Online

Apple seems to have the exclusive rights on it for now.

Can’t say it makes me want to rush right out and see the film.

  1. Clobberin’ Time?
Out of curiosity, does any of the Fantastic Four state their trademark lines in the trailer (“Flame On”, “It’s Clobberin’ Time”)

      No :(

Doctor Doom looks like he’s not going to be a Eastern European dictator, but instead one of the astronauts who get a dose of mutating space rays.

plus, he appears to be able to shoot lightning from his fingers. blah. I LOVE Fantastic Four. I had such hope for this. I’m *really* worried…

I’m Worried too, But I Was Worried About Spiderman When They Did The ‘Organic Web Shooters’ Thing. It Has The Potential To Not suck. It Very Well Could Turn Out Good.

          We Can Hope, Right…?

After seeing the teaser on the big screen before Elektra, I’d say I have some concerns, but not as many as I had just from looking at the lack of work experience of the director. The four themselves seem to be done fairly well, although I’m not sure I’ll be happy with this version of Doom. I’ll see it opening night (and review it the next day), but I won’t have high expectations. At this point, I’m willing to be that it’s going to get slaughtered at the box office by Speilberg’s War of the Worlds, which will have a two day head start to get the word of mouth moving.

            • Re: Clobberin’ Time?
I think the changes to Doom and how the character will turn out depends on whether they’re using this movie to set up sequels. There was a fairly large gap of time in the comic between when Victor and Reed went to school together and when Victor took over Latveria. In the comic, of course, it was his mystic training. If the movie takes the tack that Von Doom is damaged during the accident that gives the FF their powers and he then goes on to rule Latveria (and wear at least the mask), then it’s all good. If they make him just another superpowered criminal, then, well, yucko.

The best comic book villains to my mind are the “true believers.” Magneto and Doctor Doom are two of the best examples of this. Neither of them is in the “supervillain” game to rob banks, run crime syndicates, etc. Doom truly believes that the world would be a better place were he in charge and Magneto truly believes that he has to take drastic action to protect his mutant brethren. The X-Men movies have done a good job bringing that across with Magneto. I just have to hope they at LEAST set up that direction for Doom.

      Jessica Alba.

      That’s all I’ll say.

      Invisible Jessica Alba.

      So, not much point ;-)

Well, that depends on whether she’s able to turn her clothes invisible right off the bat or not. ;-)

  2. It got me interested
I’ve never really been a big fan of the Fantastic Four either – I had some exposure to The Thing as I was a Hulk fan as a kid (he looks well done) and to Dr. Doom, as he’s Dr. Doom (however I don’t remember him having any electrical superpowers – just maniacal egomania). I might go see this one, and I will definitely rent it.

  3. hmm
Other than watching the saturday morning cartoon that had a robot instead of the human torch I really had no exposure. Based on past experience with Spider-Man and how they re-imagined it yet kept it close to the same I’d go see it.

I’ve always wondered why they put in a *robot* in that cartoon instead of Johnny Storm.

The company that did the solo cartoons for Hulk, Namor, Captain America, and so forth still held the rights to do a cartoon series based on Johnny’s solo adventures. They couldn’t get the legal rights to use him. This was the same reason that Firestar was created for Spider-Man and his Amazing Friends in the early 1980s; they couldn’t do an animated Johnny Storm.

  4. Two words: Venture Brothers
They had on an episode last week that did a very good job of satirizing the Fantastic Four. If you can catch it, do.

      That was hilarious.

  5. Bad trailer! Bad!
The movie really doesn’t excite me. But that’s not what strikes me the most about this trailer… It’s the quality of the trailer itself. What the hell?

Seriously, it’s bad. It’s the first time I notice a ‘bad’ trailer, and I thought Hollywood had the trailer technique down pat…

The music (Rob Zombie?) takes too long to kick in and gives a strange atmosphere to the trailer. The bleeps at the beginning serve no purpose. The switch from ‘Fourth’ to ‘4th’ and ‘Forever’ to ‘4 ever’ REALLY suck as an idea. The scenes focus on some bad CGI that look silly (Mr. Fantastic opening the door with a BAD-looking stretched hand).

It’s really puzzling. I was sure Hollywood could make anything look good.

I thought the hand looked pretty good – but I figured perhaps you were on to something so I went and took another look.

      It still looks pretty good.

I don’t know man, this trailer seems up to snuff. The “4 ever” irritated me slightly, but all L337 5p34k does when it hits mainstream. I’m assuming they used it simply because of the rise in popularity of text messaging – perhaps we’ll be seeing a SMS spam campaign to kick this movie off. The music fit (in my mind) as they’re going for an action movie – you want loud, power chord with heavy percussion and lots of bass in your music for that type of movie – plus they timed The Thing’s drop to it pretty well. All in all, it seemed like a solid trailer, and as I said above, I kind of want to see it now.

Remember, it could be worse – Uwe Boll could have directed it.

  6. Jessica Alba
Jessica Alba is the main reason I have against seeing this movie. Other than “Enough with the comic book things already”.

First, she’s not that pretty. Second, and more importantly, she can’t act.

I tried to watch “Dark Angel” (or, as my ex-wife called it, “The Matrix, 90210”) but she was just so horrible in that. Sometimes they had halfway decent plots but she was just sooo cheesy. And then they tried to have her do ‘sexy’ stuff and, I’m sorry, just cause a woman happens to be in a wet dress doesn’t make her sexy.

The trailer’s not too bad, though. It does get a cliche point for Vehicle Crashing Into Superhero And Getting Destroyed, and I can’t understand what the guy says at the end… but that’s ok.

Jessica Alba is the main reason I have against seeing this movie. Other than “Enough with the comic book things already”.

First off: No, more! I want MORE comic book movies! Moremoremoremoremore.

Secondly: Alba is hot, but a hot latina. Casting her as a blue eyed blonde was… dumb. But, the target audience is dumb teenagers, so, my opinion doesn’t count.

I’ll just focus on the human torch SFX. Ignore the plot, casting, dialogue… the flames, watch the flames.

  7. I beg to differ…
…after a simple Google search for “fantastic four” full screen, I got the following DOWNLOADABLE link:

And in case anyone is interested, the creepy “creaky floorboard” intro to “Evil” Doom’s scene in the carpark is from A Perfect Circle’s anti-war (and possible anti-Bush) track “Counting Bodies Like Sheep To The Rhythm Of The War Drums” (for which there’s a thought-provoking music video: http://www.aperfectcircle.com/bodies.html)
