Bureau’s Breakroom’s Television Table – Week beginning 12 May 2019

We have a few of our big name titles reaching the end of their seasons, such as Flash, Arrow, and Riverdale, with others getting to their penultimate adventure, such as Supergirl, Game of Thrones, and Doom Patrol.  I’d ask what we think we would put on in the breakroom once they wrap up, but I suspect we all have plenty of backlog to catch up on.  Which seasonal climax are you most looking forward to?

[All synopses (and titles) from Trakt.tv or IMDB below the cut, except when there really aren’t any.  (If a show’s synopsis is a spoiler to you, do not click More…)]

  1. Elementary comes back after these shows end, I know I am looking forward to that. Anyone else?

I can’t suggest that I’m quite ready to dive into a Firefly or Buffy re-watch yet, since we have in-laws here for a week or two and we haven’t even gotten to Lucifer yet.

    • I’m also looking forward to Elementary. It is some thing to watch without needing much brainpower to enjoy. I’m really looking forward to the next season of the Expanse but dunno when that will air.

Upcoming shows I’m going to watch or at least look into:
      Good Omens – May 31st https://youtu.be/Boz7rHYLj6s
      Swamp Thing – May 31st
      Legion – June 24
      Young Justice S3pt2 – July 2nd
      Pennyworth – July 28th
      Preacher – Aug 4th

      • I hadn’t heard of Pennyworth. Is it a spin-off of Gotham, or a generic Wanna-be-Agent-Carter?

(I think my Marvel Fanboy is showing, isn’t it?)

        • It has Alfred going to work for Thomas Wayne and his wife– what’s her name again?– in the 1960s, so I don’t think ties into any existing DC media.

DC has always been most successful when they just said, yeah, it might be continuity but it could be another universe, so, why not?

    • Yeah, I’ve always enjoyed “Elementary’s” quirky little twists on the standard police procedural / whodunnit, and going to be interesting to see how they pickup the pieces from last season since I believe Gregson & Bell are returning.

Also looking forwards to “Good Omens”; it’s always been one of my favorite Pratchett books and the trailers look like they might do it justice, and the new “Expanse” whenever Amazon finally get around to releasing it.

  2. Supergirl does the whole actress vs the same actress thing, and puts one in a mask immediately for the fight scenes. Seems too cheap of a move to let it go without pointing out the obvious cost saving reasons for it.
