There may be slim pickings in the non-genre stuff
this week, but the genre is looking good.
First, the genre releases:
- Donnie
Darko –
The Director’s Cut: This has been on my “must
see” list for far
too long. - Empire
of the
Ants / Tentacles: This double feature includes
two of the great
bad sci-fi monster flicks. - Greatest
America Hero – Season One: It’s finally on DVD.
Believe it or
not, I’m walking on air. I’m on top of the world!
It should have
been somebody else… - Justice
League
Vol. 6 – Saving the World: This collects the
first few episodes of
Justice League Unlimited. I have a few DVDs
from the series,
but I’ve decided to stop buying them and hold out for
the season
packs. - Spriggan
–
Special Edition: The well-known anime on
DVD.
Now, the non-genre releases:
- Little
House
on the Prairie – Complete Season Seven: This was
a popular show.
Why? I’ve never understood. - The
Motorcycle
Diaries: An Oscar nominated film from this
year. - Saw:
It’s
a 100 minute version of that scene from Mad
Max… - They
Might Be
Giants – Here Come The ABCs: For the little
ones.
Finally, the pick of the week. In case you didn’t
guess when I
mentioned it last week, it’ll be Angel
– Season
Five: The final season, that brought us “Smile
Time” and “Not Fade
Away.” This show went out too soon, but it went out
with a bang.
Donnie Darko
IMHO make sure you watch the original edition first. I’ve not seen the director’s cut yet, I want to, but I thought the original was pretty darn perfect as it was. Many of the deleted scenes should have been in the original cut, IMHO, but you’ll have to wait to see them for yourself.
