Bureau’s Breakroom’s Television Table – Week beginning 2019 May 26

It seems the summer season has hit and taken most of our normal television with it.  Good Omens drops, which should give you a few episodes to keep you busy around Marvel’s season finale of Cloak and Dagger, while the SHIELD agents return to Earth for an episode.  Holmes and Watson return to New York for two episodes, and it gets difficult to see what’s in The Twilight Zone.  If you still find yourself wishing you had at least a tiny bit of Marvel’s Distaff Counterpart*, Swamp Thing has you covered.

Game of Thrones – S08E00 – The Last Watch – A documentary about the show.

Good Omens – S01 – The End of the World is coming, which means a fussy Angel and a loose-living Demon who’ve become overly fond of life on Earth are forced to form an unlikely alliance to stop Armageddon. But they have lost the Antichrist, an 11-year-old boy unaware he’s meant to bring upon the end of days, forcing them to embark on an adventure to find him and save the world before it’s too late.

Marvel’s Cloak & Dagger – S02E10 – Level Up – Tyrone and Tandy head to the Loa dimension to stop the evil force threatening New Orleans. To finally put an end to it, they must come face to face with their own personal issues that have been holding them back.

The Twilight Zone – S01E10 – Blurryman – <No description given, but see Bureau42 for a review!>

Elementary – S07E02 – Gutshot – Holmes and Watson try to work a stateside investigation from London when someone close to them in the U.S. is gravely wounded by an unknown perpetrator. Holmes’ stateside legal trouble threatens to derail their efforts.

Elementary – S07E03 – The Price of Admission – Holmes takes extreme measures to secure his return to New York when he leans on his father’s disreputable connections to aid his legal re-entry into the United States. Watson helps the NYPD investigate a murder at a storage facility that caters to wealthy clients with items they want hidden from U.S. Customs.

Swamp Thing – S01E01 – Episode 1 – Something unnatural is happening in the swamps outside Marais, Louisiana. When a mysterious illness strikes the town, CDC investigator (and former Marais native) Abby Arcane is sent to investigate.

Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. – S06E04 – Code Yellow – Yo-Yo and Keller take things public; parasitic aliens threaten the human race; and someone really needs boba…

*DC Comics is not actually a female counterpart to Marvel’s masculinity, but the initials fit and it was an intriguing thought, so I went with it.

  1. This should probably go on last week’s, but SHIELD has really impressed me. It’s cinematic levels of special effects and a fun story kept me riveted when we actually watched it. Fun note, I saw the Story Editor’s name was George Kitson.

    Cloak and Dagger from last week left me confused, and I thought it was because I had just finished a bottle of wine my Mother-in-law left behind, but I rewatched it the next morning and it wasn’t much more clear.

    • I think Cloak and Dagger was intended to be slightly confusing. However, it actually does make sense in the context of the unfolding story. Basically, the bad guy managed to achieve his goal or at least take a huge step toward that goal. Mixed with some flashbacks and some magic effects. I wonder if more detailed familiarity with “voodoo” would make things clearer or if it would just make a person scream about how poorly they represented it.

      • I actually have a decent familiarity with voodoo, at least enough to understand that part of it. I think I was getting confused with what was “now” and what was flashback.

  3. For the record, the review is of “The Blue Scorpion.” “Blurryman” was listed everywhere, but they’re actually airing it as the final episode of the season, which I will review next weekend.

    Also, has anyone seen Swamp Thing yet? I’ve heard the new series is excellent, but doubt I’ll see it until, at least, summer.
