writes, The Toronto Star has an interesting
article with a lot of good info about the future
of Enterprise and Star Trek in general. Here’s a quote
from the interview of Jolene Blalock:
There is an awkward silence when the
subject of the final episode is broached. “I don’t
know where to begin with that one,” she finally
stammers. “The final episode is …
appalling.”
Well, Considering…
…who the authors of the episode are, I’m not surprised to hear that.
Paramount must be just a company run by idiot acountants that can’t see the forest for the trees or something to not catch the fan rage at B&B and to let them do Trek XI after this monster failure, I’m glad Gene isn’t around to see it.
Re: Well, Considering…
I’m not: Gene would have gotten in their way.
I find Jolene eerily coherant. I guess I’ve been falling into the “bimbo” prejudice… But she’s right on all counts as far as I can tell. So I’ll just have to find a way to see that finale, it’s gearing up to speactacularly bad.
Re: Well, Considering…
…like my spelling : (
info
“A script has been commissioned (from Band Of Brothers scribe Eric Jendresen) for an 11th Star Trek film, also a prequel, supposedly set between the Enterprise era and the original adventures of Capt. Kirk.”
That’s pretty interesting. I can see it being either really really terrible or really good depending on what “new” actors they get.
Re: info
How many prequels have you known to be really good, exctly?
And how many were spearheaded by that rat bastard Rick Berman?
The bright side of this is that I don’t get that weird “oh noes, a nerd!” look as I tell people I like Star Trek anymore… sigh.
Re: info
Babylon 5’s in the begeinning was good. Thats about all I could think of.
Re: info
Hmmm
Well then it would be either Captain Pike, or April. There is some novel treatment here to work from, but since B&B can’t read…..
coming from Blalock…
it’s pretty bad. You don’t normally hear someone from the show bash it. B&B are TVs equivalent of satan.
Re: coming from Blalock…
Unless it’s Chicotay, of course ;)
Re: coming from Blalock…
!! MAJOR SPOILAGE WARNING !!
god, i really hope this isn’t true as it will only make people want to hang b&b worse than before… i just heard a bit of news regarding how they are ending this that really really makes me mad. i have no idea if this is mere rumor or fact but it sounds like a very b&b way of handling things so i’m thinking it could be true.
basically what they said is that the entire show was a holodeck program being run by troi and riker in the year 2385. i am still trying to confirm the source of this rumor but god, i really hope this isn’t the end. there will be no forgiveness for this.
!! MAJOR SPOILAGE WARNING !!
Quantum Leap
Did I correctly read that article that QL is being made again? Was I hallucinating? Did anybody know about that?
Re: Quantum Leap
Rumor is the leaper will be a female lead.
Re: Quantum Leap
Woo. I await the outcome of that with great interest. Before that though – Doctor Who!
Quantum Leap! W00T!
Plot Summary for
Quantum Leap: A Bold Leap Forward (2005) (TV)
Twenty years after the original series left Dr. Sam Beckett “leaping” into the great unknown, Sam is finally reunited with Al, his old mentor and “partner in time.” But when circumstances beyond their control send Sam away once more, Al must recruit his lost friend’s daughter to pick up where her father left off and hopefully help find Sam again in the process.
Re: Quantum Leap! W00T!
i wonder though if they are going to try to wrap this up in a single movie or will it end like the tv episodes. i mean, it would seem awfully convenient that they would have tried just about everything in the years he was leaping and all of a sudden his daughter can find him and end the thing? guess we’ll see how it works out.
Re: Quantum Leap! W00T!
Well, the offspring thing makes a kind of sense. He was restricted to leaping within his own lifetime, with one notable exception: one of his ancestors.
So his child, once old enough to know how (and to serve as eye candy to the target demographic, ah-hem), would be the only way to get to him.
I wonder if she’ll be stuck too…
Re: Quantum Leap! W00T!
But it’s not supposed to end! Quantum Leap had
one of the best series finales I’ve ever seen, simply
because it was so right for the characters. Sam will leap
home when he wants to, and not a moment before. He might
stop for a visit if he’s near someone he can help, but he
will choose not to stay.
Re: Quantum Leap! W00T!
The last episode I remember is Sam being in some weird “between time” bar talking to characters that were in the show but they weren’t really themselves. It was really hinting at divine intervention without actually saying the 3 letter word. Wasn’t a very good episode/ending imo but if that WASN’T the last episode then I really need to find it o.o
Re: Quantum Leap! W00T!
That was it. I really didn’t like it the first time, but
every time I see it, I like it a little more. There’s a
lot of important information revealed by the bartender
before you realize what’s going on. As a story-based
plotline, it’s weak, but as a piece to complete the known
story about a character, it does a great job.
Protest continuing it?
I wonder what would have happened if an equally large group of people had shown up at the protest thanking Paramount for cancelling it?
Damien
Re: Protest continuing it?
That would be fun. Someone should do that.
Re: Protest continuing it?
If we protest Rick Berman, I’m SO in.
Re: Protest continuing it?
we could stage a fake riot. star trek nerds wanting the show back and babylon 5 nerds that are laughing at them… of course it’s all fun and games until someone loses an eye.
Re: Protest continuing it?
Just make sure the eye it gets replaced with is your proper color and you’re set.
Re: Protest continuing it?
Then it’s a scavenger hunt! :)
Blalock: a little late
She was a little late on voicing her opinion; well now that she is done and has been paid she can say what she wants. She is out of work, much like the entire cast. Scott Bakula needed this to put the life back in his so-called acting career. Jolene Blalock has now been on the covers of every men’s magazines (that will last for about a year) she now has 2 options, she can A. be a model or B. blow every producer in Hollywood to get another acting gig.
But what about the others Dominic Keating, Connor Trinneer, Anthony Montgomery, Linda Park and John Billingsley, yea……. Sorry guys, unlike Jeffery Combs you were in the opening credits, prepare to travel to every star trek convention for the rest of your life.
This is sad, I know, but this has been a lesson to them all, if they ever hear the name “Rick Berman” (or any of Bermans fellow clan members) when looking for another job, RUN
Re: Blalock: a little late
I dunno if she’ll have to to B. She’s also guest-starred on a few episodes of Stargate SG1 as a Jaffa warrior leader, and possible love interest for Teal’c. She’s not a horrible actress.
Re: Blalock: a little late
This isn’t the first time she’s voiced her opinion about Enterprise stinking, she has slammed the show in previous seasons when she was still receiving pay.
Re: Blalock: a little late
I’m surprised, but as the years go on I’ve found that I respect her more and more. The part on Stargate SG-1 didn’t hurt either. But her lousy, emotional T’Pol seems to have been largely driven by (who else) B&B whereas she’s never like it. She has done a much better T’Pol in season 4.
