Finally, the picks of the week. Alex says, “Detective Pikachu was an incredibly fun movie, and I definitely recommend picking it up.” Blaine says, “I have been looking forward to What We Left Behind: Looking Back at Star Trek: Deep Space Nine every since I heard about the project, shortly after it exceeded all of its crowdfunding goals.”

  1. Detective Pikachu let me down. It was a watered down Deadpool-ish Ryan shoe horned into a movie aimed clearly at kids younger than mine. (Though, I am not sure that’s the movie’s fault as I don’t know what else I should have expected.) I will give it that it looked pretty.

I am looking forward to Godzilla, as I missed it in theaters. That one is one I am expecting to be a glorified version of a kid taking all their Kaiju toys and smashing them together, but that’s all I want from it.

    • I would agree with the pick of Star Trek: What We Left Behind as the one I want to see– though they’re running the American Experience Woodstock doc tomorrow locally so I’ll be seeing it first.

I’ve reviewed Don’t Look Now at our site. A memorable movie, but not for all tastes. I’ve reviewed Alice, Sweet Alice elsewhere. Also not for all tastes, and not as good or famous a film, but of interest to fans of horror.

Lex– if you go into Godzilla with those expectations, you’ll be fine.
