Okay, since everyone else puts up discussion forums for their genre shows, I’m going to start doing the same – assuming I can keep up with it. So here’s the first one. Hopefully we’ll start seeing more of that good ‘ol thing they call “plot”. Last week looked promising – how about this week?
Disappointing
I have to say that this season has been somewhat disappointing. Each episode this season seems the be self contained. I miss the cliff hangers that made me want to tune in the following week. I hope it picks up soon.
No Plots
I agree that his show has lost its plot. Every week is a new self contained bit, but thus far shows nothing of an over-arcing storyline. The only thing even close to holding at all together is the truth about who killed mom. Not enough there to have kept me watching the last two weeks.

well, I keep watching, hoping it’s going to get better – and I think is *has* gotten better in the last two weeks – I believe JJ Abrams is getting to focus a little more on alias now that lost is wrapping up for the first season. My reasons for watching are the new “vaughn’s dad might still be alive” plot and the part where I wonder whether syd’s sister is going to turn on her – and whether SHE might not be the one in the prophecy now. Of course…there’s also still a sense of “is syd’s mom really dead after all?”. you never know on this show…

I just don’t feel like they’ve given us any reason to care about the Vaughn plot. His reactions to the revelations so far are too muted and there have been no links (besides those we already know regarding Nadia) to current plotlines (there aren’t many), so I’ve found the thing a bore. More interesting to me by far is the collusion of Jack and Arvind on something extracurricular. I was very disappointed that they didn’t touch on that this week.
I’m hoping that they’re able to ramp things up from now until the finale, but so far I think season three was better and that one wasn’t as good as one or two…

I read blurb by JJ Abrams that mentioned that they had gotten off track with Season 3 and then season 4 would return to the show as it had begun… without a heavy Rambaldi plotline. What I find weird is that the Rambaldi story arc was what made the overall show fun to watch, at least for me.
This season has really lacked an arc and while slightly entertaining, has not really surpassed any of te first 3 seasons.
I know that Lost is the new show, but, Alias shouldn’t have to suffer for Lost’s success If JJ can’t juggle them, he’s stupid not to pass one off to some other producer.

I haven’t watched the credits in a while (irritated with the “let’s show jennifer garner half-naked for 30 seconds!” new opening. not that I MIND jennifer garner half naked, but come ON. that’s just gratuitous) but I’ve been assuming that there’s been someone else doing the actual “production” work for the last season and that’s WHY it’s been suffering.

I had forgotten about the title sequence. As much as I like watching Syd in revealing costumes and interesting wigs. I think that the sequence really needs to be reworked. Perhaps involve other characters in the cast? Seems rather self centered.
I liked the Rambaldi plot as well. If they are trying move away from that, at least finish it first. I know there are people that really hated the Rambaldi angle of the show.
I really miss the over arcing story plots. It was the thing that kept me coming back for more.
I’m also not that impressed with the character Nadia. I just don’t really care for her. It is like they added another cute woman to the cast to increase male viewership.

Seems to me that people who didn’t like the Rambaldi stuff really couldn’t have liked the first two seasons at all, thus the network/producers shouldn’t be too worried about whether those people watch or not – first priority should be keeping the old viewers, not making speculative moves to get new ones.
As for Nadia, she’s been little more than a walking, talking, very pretty Rambaldi/Irina leftover. I think she could be more (and that may be why they focused on her with this episode), but, until they close out the potential problem with Jack and the Rambaldi story itself, she’s unlikely to gain traction with those of us who have been watching from the beginning.

I have this sense that vaughn’s missing father is going to be briniging us back to rambaldi – his dad was a follower of rambaldi after all, and I’m 99% certain that that’s what’s in that notebook. And Nadia is almost 100% a Rambaldi plot device waiting to happen. As the season winds down, I’m hoping and waiting for the rambaldi suspense to wind back up.
although, as I’ve said before, what REALLY needs to happen is for them to wrap up all the loose ends and just end the show. It’s been great, but don’t drag it out and kill it. Abrams has shown that he can create great series’. End this one, start a new one. We’ll still be there.
