Bureau’s Breakroom’s Television Table – Week beginning 6 October 2019

We are off to the races this week, with the return of Supergirl, Black Lightning, Riverdale, and the Flash.  In case you didn’t think that was enough Depicted Coverage, even after mixing in the Titans, Batwoman premiers!  We also have The Good Doctor goes fishing, American Horror Story continues its summer at camp, and we get the second half of The Blacklist’s anagram story.

Batwoman – S01E01 – Pilot – Kate Kane returns to Gotham when a gang targets her father and her ex-girlfriend Sophie Moore. [Check Bureau42 for a review later this week!]

Supergirl – S05E01 – Event Horizon – Kara is surprised to find that CatCo has a new owner who has brought in a star reporter. New couples emerge and explore their budding relationships while J’onn J’onzz receives an unexpected visitor.

Black Lightning – S03E01 – The Book of Occupation: Chapter One – We find Jefferson Pierce like never before, in the hands of the ASA with his wife Lynn as Agent Odell tightens his grip on the Pierce family, leaving Jennifer abandoned and Freeland without Black Lightning and Thunder. But Anissa secretly defies Odell in her alter ego as Blackbird with the able tactical and technical support of Gambi.

The Good Doctor – S03E03 – Claire – Dr. Claire Browne faces complications at home and work as she prepares to lead her first surgery. Meanwhile, a sports fishing accident challenges the rest of the staff as they look to treat the fisherman’s injuries without damaging his prize catch.

The Flash – S06E01 – Into the Void – While Barry and Iris deal with the heartbreaking loss of their daughter, Nora, the team faces their greatest threat yet — one that threatens to destroy all of Central City. Meanwhile, Killer Frost has a brush with death that results in an unexpected new dynamic that will change her relationship with Caitlin forever.

Riverdale – S04E01 Chapter Fifty-Eight: In Memoriam – As the residence of Riverdale prepare for its upcoming Independence Day parade, Archie receives a phone call that will change the rest of his life forever.

American Horror Story: 1984 – S09E04 – True Killers – Mr. Jingles closes in on the one who got away as the counselors rally to escape Camp Redwood.

Titans – S02E06 – Conner – Conner Kent and Krypto escape from Cadmus Labs. His search for the truth about his past leads him to Lionel Luthor and genetic scientist Dr. Eve Watson.

The Blacklist – S07E02 – Louis T. Steinhil (2) – Liz, Dembe and the Task Force continue to search for Red, who attempts to escape his abductors with help from a surprise ally, but discovers he is not Katarina Rostova’s only target in her hunt for information.

  1. I think I’ll have to give Batwoman another episode or two to settle in before I come to any conclusion about it, though. The episode wasn’t terrible, but it was also clearly setting the stage. At least the one bit that that didn’t really make sense to me earlier on makes sense by the end of the episode. Of course, it was rather obvious if one bothered to think about it (which I didn’t).

    Supergirl seems to be going for a major shakekup given the way it casually resolves a couple of the more tedious ongoing soap opera elements (for now). Though I see plot armour has levelled up some….
