What Happened

Another fun-filled romp into the Mirror Universe, this time with a Defiant-toting megalomanical Archer in command.
High Points
- The cast is having just too much fun here.
- Empress Sato? Anyone see that one coming?
Low Point
- The Gorn could have been a little better done. Though he looks better than the TOS version.

Story: The writers are having fun and are bringing us along for the ride. 4 out of 6.

On Earth for a historic Starfleet conference to ratify the coalition of planets, Archer and the crew uncover a plot by a radical xenophobic group of humans called Terra Prime, led by Paxton, who want to put an end to the increasing number and influence of aliens on Earth. Meanwhile, although T’Pol contends she has never been pregnant, she and Trip learn that Terra Prime has information about their child. Later, a female reporter from Travis’ past pursues him for a story.

burying enterprise
At the end of the episode I was left saying “so?” There wasn’t anyone nice in the mirror universe, no one to root for, so who cares? Everyone just walked around being eeeeeevil.
Why mirror-Archer thought it was ok to trust mirror-Sato was strange.
Although I did enjoy the failed sabotage attempt.

I think you’ve identified exactly what this episode was supposed to be and why it was so good. I kept waiting for the tie-in with Enterprise during part 1, thinking "How are they going to explain this not being in ‘Mirror, Mirror’?" But, since there was no crossover, things work out okay.
Archer was too lustful to think (and seemingly pyschotic), hence the Empress.
Yes, in being all things NOT Star Trek, the good guys lost. It was fantastic!
The greatest part of the episodes, though, was seeing B&B over the Terran Empire logo. How wonderfully ironic. (And the change in title sequence was a nice touch, as well.)

Voyager ending
That reminds me of the Voyager ending I would have written.
Starfleet appears at wormhole, prepared for desperate fight. Borg ship emerges, then is blown apart by the long lost Voyager!
She is hailed, Janeway responses. “Take me to my empire!”
Pause as it sinks in that this little ship has just destroyed a Borg ship that would the rest of the fleet might have been unable to handle, and it somehow did it from the inside. And Janeway was so confident – could she really take on the whole of starfleet?
Then after the appropriate pause she adds “just kidding! It’s been a long day and we’ll fill you end once we get this ship home.”
I know, it’s rare for anyone in the Trek universe to have a sense of humor. But this is a situation where her words will be remembered throughout history, e.g., “Damn the torpedoes and full speed ahead!” and all she managed was “I’ll talk to you later”?!
Evil Sato
What a fantastic ending. I love endings where you just can’t see it coming.
Here in this universe, we could probably handle a story with almost all good guys. The mirror universe had almost all bad guys. I thoroughly enjoyed these two episodes.

And while we’re on the subject of making sh*t up….if Earth had a super “verteron” (arrrgh…) weapon on Mars then …WHY DIDN’T THEY JUST USE IT ON THE XINDI SHIPS WHEN THEY CAME TO EARTH??? ! WTF !
I got more (you betcha!) ….but I’m waiting for the review…
