Just a reminder that tonight’s Smallville
season finale is in a 90 minute time slot, and will
include an eight minute preview of Batman
Begins
.

  1. Actual time of show…
    Let’s see… 90 minutes minus 8 minute preview…
    81 minutes left.

Let us assume that there will be at least 30 minutes of commercials. Well I mean come on, it is the finally with a big draw for the preview.

    81 – 30 minutes….

51 minutes left for the show. Still better than normal though.

Exactly. A normal 60 minute tv show is only about 43 minutes with 17 minutes of commercials. So for a “90 minute” episode, you’d still have about 25 minutes of commercials, and that 8 minute preview, so yeah, just under an hour. I don’t mean to repeat you, just running it through in my own head…and I’m a little annoyed. Why don’t they just play it like normal and add 10 minutes to the end and have it run over (till 9:10pm or something), then have 10 minutes of commercials and then the Batman preview, instead of trying to make us think it’s this super long episode. Do they think all of us Smallville viewers are 12?

  2. Too many previews spoil the movie
I don’t want to see their damn 8 minutes of Batman! I’ve already seen too much as it is.

  3. DirecTivo/Lost/Alias/Smallville conflict warning…
For the last half hour of Smallville, all three are running at the same time. I just happened to notice this last night when I double checked Alias, since the preview said it’s a 2-hour episode. It wasn’t scheduled to record at all because of the conflict. The Lost episode is being repeated next Tuesday however (it appears to be a two-parter, as both this week’s and next week’s have the same title with different descriptions), so I forced the appropriate scheduling.

Lost and Alias are both on ABC, one after the other. They’re probably conflicting on your tivo because, according to TVGuide, Alias is not starting until 8:01pm (CDT).

Doh! I might have done something stupid too, like extending alias or lost a minute, though tivo *should* be able to recognize that it’s already got it and deal. but I can see how that could be hard to do also.

        Nevermind!

As I understand it, they do that on purpose to screw you Tivoers over.

  4. Bruce is where?
Oh heck I thought this was the ep where Bruce Waine meets his “good buddy” Lex for some reason, and runs into Clark doing something “super”.

  5. Since the episode review topic hasn’t been started yet.
I just saw their commerchal for Revenge of the Sith. “Sith Happens”?!?!?!? WTF.

They have officially topped “Yoda Man!” for stupid cornyness.
