Synopsis
Again, we have two cases. The light case is about a
child star who is
trying to delay the onset of puberty to extend his
career. The
serious case is about a rape committed from 20 miles
away.
High Point
There were three great lines in this episode. My
personal favourite
was “Your client is a piece of crap.” Close
runners-up are “I would,
however, have to bill you for my time” and the final
comment from the
jury.
Low Point
The Review
This has an original means of committing
rape, and a
realistic view of it from the courts. It played out
rather nicely. I
give it 5 out of 6.
The effects were minimal, subtle, and
seamless, as they
should be. Very nicely done. I give it 6 out of 6.
The story had a very powerful main plot, with
an amusing
second case to offset the drama nicely. I give it 5
out of 6.
The acting was good from all but Davidson.
Other guest stars
included Robert Guillaume (who is fantastic when
crusty), Donny Most
(well cast as a former child star), and Daryl Sabara
(one of the Spy
Kids, cast as a current child star.) Those three did
great work, and
the regular cast has settled in nicely. Schaeffer
does his part very
well. I give it 5 out of 6.
The emotional response was potent. If you
can watch a story
about rape without feeling, get help. That story arc
was very
effectively done, while the second case was as
remarkably funny as it
needed to be to maintain the mood. There were some
excellent
juxtapositions here. I give it 6 out of 6.
The production was well done, with
appropriate camera angles
and positions throughout. I give it 5 out of 6.
Overall, this is one of the top three of the
nine episode
series. (The other top three episodes should air on
June 5 and June
12.) I give it 5 out of 6.
In total, To Know Her receives 37 out of 42.
