For a total of 11 points, I do not know nearly as much about the Muppets as I would have expected. I kinda of want to go back and watch the old stuff, but I am pretty sure most of it is topical humor that I wouldn’t get today. The new Disney+ show is mildly entertaining, though.

…and I will always love the hecklers.

Also, their duet with OK Go is excellent. (Like their work with Alice Cooper.)

    • I would LOVE to see the old series (and Muppets Tonight) on Disney+. Seems like a no-brainer to me, but I don’t know who holds the broadcast rights to those.

I will say, I watched the show a few years ago with my kids and they got about 80% of the jokes aimed at kids. If you’re familiar with that the Guest does, you’ll get most of the humor. The Muppets weren’t into topical commentary.

Apart from the interplay with the guests, I recall the moments of surreal craziness– like the time the newscaster read a list of gestation periods of various mammals:

And now, direct from the Chicago Livestock Board, here are the gestation periods.

    awkward pause

Yes. Anyhow, gestation periods. Pigs: 113 days; cows: 284 days; horses: 337 days; and elephants: 645 days. Elsewhere on the agricultural news front, the recent bumper crop has been causing problems for farmers. Widespread dumping of produce has resulted from this bumper crop.

    Ow!
