Finally, the picks of the week. Alex says, “I didn’t get a chance to see Weathering With You in theaters in my area, so I’m definitely looking forward to picking up the film on physical media now that it’s available.” Blaine says, “The 4 Film Collection: Film Noir is the best title I’ve seen, particularly Out of the Past and Murder My Sweet. Of those I haven’t seen, the new Red Dwarf title has my attention.”

  1. I’ve watched a lot of old film noir, but none of those titles in the collection. I suppose I might be interested in that, and there’s a new release of Cowboy Bebop.

I’ve reviewed Alice, Sweet Alice elsewhere, but not here, and was planning of doing an October Review of lesser-known werewolf films that would include Silver Bullet, featured in this week’s Stephen King collection. There’s some old well-known films (The Sons of Katie Elder— John Wayne and Dean Martin are two of the brothers and Roman Holiday with Hepburn and Peck) and some real curiosities. I have at least a curiosity about Jesus Shows You the Way to the Highway, and it’s interesting to know that Muhammad Ali and Kris Kristofferson did a movie together, but I don’t know if it’s interesting enough to make me watch it.

Private Parts is the Howard Stern one and not the 70s 70s cult film, so I’m out.

  2. Red Dwarf: Promised Land was kind of disappointing, to me.

When I think about it, series 8 was terrible, Back To Earth was pretty bad and now this thing. And what do they all have in common? They expand the story beyond the main crew of the Dwarf to include many, many other people.

    That just does not work.
