Premise

Marty muuct go to 1885 in order to save Doc Brown’s
life.

High Point

This one felt like a return to the “let’s make the
audience have fun”
mode of filmmaking, instead of the previous “let’s
meet some arbitrary
technical challenges.”

Low Point

“Love at first sight” is a screenwriter’s means to
avoid a plausible
relationship build.

The Scores

This is more original that the second,
bringing back the tone
of the first film, while setting up an entirely new
story to tell in a
new era. I give it 4 out of 6.

The effects had some of those pesky matte
lines, but they
were fairly smooth. I give it 4 out of 6.

The story had a point, clear goals and
direction, and real
character development. Much better than the second.
I give it 5 out
of 6.

The acting was more natural this time, which
works
considerably better. I give it 4 out of 6.

The emotional response is very strong. This
sequel was fun
and funny, which is exactly what the audience is
hoping for after the
first film in the series. I give it 5 out of 6.

The production is much more natural. Without
the “effects
for the sake of effects” shots, the camera angles and
motions can get
considerably better throughout. Doc’s machine looked
like a period
machine, and we get much tighter editing, eliminating
the feeling that
the movie was dragged out for the challenge. I give
it 5 out of 6.

Overall, it’s not quite up to the standard of
the original,
but it’s certainly better than the second. I give it 4
out of 6.

In total, Back to the Future: Part III
receives 31 out of 42.
