Bureau’s Breakroom’s Television Table – Week beginning 2020 November 15

The first thing in this list that jumped out at me was the fact that I can’t see a listing anywhere for the third episode of this season’s Blacklist, and this week’s is labeled as “Conclusion,” but a bit of web research is inconclusive but seems to indicate they are referring to the fact that it’s season seven’s conclusion, pushed to this season.  Going in reverse order this week, we also get Marvel’s 616, a series that examine the characters in-universe.  The two best genre shows currently on television, possibly the two best shows on television at all, also appear.  The Mandalorian doesn’t give us a description, and some of the crew of Discovery are going to meet with Book.  Reinforcements show up to deal with the pandemic on The Good Doctor.  In His Dark Materials, Lyra crosses into the show’s version of our real world.

[All synopses (and titles) from Trakt.tv below the cut, except when there really aren’t any. (If a show’s synopsis is a spoiler to you, do not click Continue reading →)]

His Dark Materials – S02E02 – The Cave – Lyra crosses into Will’s world, and they set off to find answers about Dust. Will is shocked to discover he has grandparents, but quickly realises he can’t trust them.

DuckTales – S03E16 – The First Adventure! – Scrooge is forced to babysit young Donald and Della as they go on their first adventure to find a powerful artifact, unaware that Bradford is taking on this mission personally.

The Good Doctor – S04E03 – Newbies – With several candidates vying for residency at St. Bonaventure, Chief of Surgery Dr. Audrey Lim tasks Dr. Shaun Murphy, Dr. Claire Browne and Dr. Alex Park with mentoring the top first-year resident contenders. As their mentees shadow them for the day, Shaun and Park meet with Andrews to discuss a difficult surgery scheduled for a minor. Later, Shaun inadvertently insults Lea while discussing the pros and cons of the controversial surgery. And elsewhere, Dr. Morgan Reznick seeks out Claire and Lim’s help on a consult.

Star Trek: Discovery – S03E06 – Scavengers – Burnham and Georgiou embark on a mission after receiving word from Book. Saru is left to deal with Admiral Vance.

The Mandalorian – S02E04 – Chapter 12 – [No Description]

Marvel’s 616 – S01 – The series explores Marvel’s rich legacy of pioneering characters, creators, and storytelling to reflect the world outside your window. Each documentary, helmed by a unique filmmaker, showcases the intersections of storytelling, pop culture, and fandom within the Marvel Universe.

The Blacklist – S08E02 – Katarina Rostova: Conclusion – As Liz pushes a source for answers, Red and the task force grapple with the implications of her actions. Tensions boil over and a drastic action is taken, which will change Red and Liz’s relationship forever.

  1. I believe that Book is named for a character from the greatest sci-fi of all time, and I also noticed that the Razor Crest (The Mandalorian’s ship) has begun to look like Serenity, too.

(Yes, I am still mad at Fox for that.)

  2. Season 1 of the Animaniacs reboot is now available on Hulu. The main characters are done by the same voice actors from the old series. Narf!
