James Marsters, Buffy‘s Spike, reportedly will appear in six eps of Smallville as Brainiac. So, will this be the classic green look, the far cooler Terminator skeleton look, or an entirely different version of the character?

James Marsters
Not to nit-pick, but do you mean James Marsters? He’ll be great on Smallville!
Re: James Marsters
That’s exactly who he means. Tom Wopat will be guest starring this fall, too.
Re: James Marsters
Tyops corrected.
Re: James Marsters
Thanks for correcting the error. I’m posting on the run whilst out of town.
But putting Brainiac in the show, even with an actor of Marsters’ quality, seems like a risky move.
Re: James Marsters
Not that risky if they’re using him to tie up the loose ends before closing the show down at the end of the year, and isn’t that the plan? This could be particularly interesting if they’re giving the big B Kryptonian origins as they did in the animated series (Superman TAS and Justice League). There aren’t too many shows I’m excited about this year, but Smallville tops the short list which also includes Justice League Unlimited, depending on when that series’ third/fifth season finally debuts.
Re: James Marsters
You think that this is the answer to the big question from the cliffhanging season finale? Who’s in the box (spaceship)?
I was thinking Zod, my buddy was saying Brainy. I’m starting to suspect he might have been right… what with the naming of the Marsters, and the quietness on the General front…
Re: James Marsters
Well, there was always at least one big problem with introducing Zod: Using Terence Stamp as the voice made it seem too obvious, and simultaneously made him too old to play the role in person. So, we can probably take it as fact that Terence Stamp’s voice IS the voice of Jor-El, though it’s probably been misused by the computer (or ONE of the Kryptonian computers currently on earth – hehe) which will manifest itself in human form and be called Braniac. Sounds like a good plan to me! :)
Re: James Marsters
Well, that’s all well and good, but they had an adult-sized version of Supe’s spaceship (henceforth referred to as “the box”). So, who’s in the box? James Marsters as Brainiac? That’s not how I understand Brainiac, but, eh, I’m no expert on the character, so maybe he would. However “we’re locking you up in a space-coffin and sending you to space forever” sounds like the kind of punishement Zod would have coming to him if he were in a universe devoid of funky spinning mirror prison thingies…
Dammit, I know I’m wrong by now (damn you, official announcement!), it’s Brainiac, but I want Zod! Zoooooooooood!
Re: James Marsters
There’s a rumour that one or two Kryptonians may be appearing on the show this year, so maybe we’ll also get Zod– though that would create serious alien overkill potential. Of course, Brainy may not be an alien in this version– some information appears in this Marsters interview here.
Tom Wopat, the other original Duke, will also guest-star, as an old friend of Pa Kent’s.
Re: James Marsters
Didn’t Pa also make a comment once about his old car? Hehehe… I love this show’s lil’ inside jokes.
