Bureau’s Breakroom’s Television Table – Week beginning 2021 June 27

We have only six entries in the table today, which is larger than our normal summer postings.  Despite Cutting down a bit, The Legends with their visit the the old west and The Flash and his army of Godspeeds (the white suited Flash) wave goodbye to Batwoman for her “upending” season finale.  Evil (the show) sends us an angel.  Loki and the Bad Batch round out our list, but as usually expect us to watch without any synopses.

[All synopses (and titles) from Trakt.tv below the cut, except when there really aren’t any. (If a show’s synopsis is a spoiler to you, do not click Continue reading →)]

Evil – S2E02 – A is for Avenging Angel – [No Description Given]

DC’s Legends of Tomorrow – S06E08 – Stressed Western – With everyone finally back together, the Legends find themselves looking to Nate to keep everything calm while in the old West on a mission to find an alien. After trying to keep things normal, Sara reveals her secret to Ava and the team, leaving them all shocked. Constantine looks to Gary who might have the answer to his problem. Spooner and Astra are forced to work together despite their clashing personalities which ultimately helps push them to hone their powers.

Batwoman – S02E18 – Power – [Season finale] Ryan questions her place as the city’s hero as she, Luke Fox, Mary and Sophie must join forces when Black Mask instigates chaos in the Gotham streets. Meanwhile, Alice’s attempt to rescue her sister means another encounter with Circe. In an epic standoff, unexpected alliances and transformations will upend Gotham as we know it.

The Flash – S07E15 – Enemy at the Gates – When an army of Godspeeds attack Central City, Barry and Iris must put their family plans on hold and focus on the latest threat to their home. Meanwhile, Chillblaine is released from prison and claims to be reformed but Frost has her doubts.

Loki – S01E03 – Episode 4 – [No Description Given]

The Bad Batch – S01E10 – Common Ground – [No Description Given]

If there is a show you watch you feel should be on the list, please let me know, we are happy to expand the table to include new shows!

  1. Superman & Lois enters their second hiatus, and the cliffhanger ending from this past week won’t be resolved until a couple of weeks into July. Clearly, I will have to post a review of the recent ep soon, rather than wait until I have two.

  2. Batwoman thoughts:

    • The new muscles that Bane Tar Tar Off (or whatever his name is) use a special effect I haven’t seen since SNL tried to Pump *clap* you up!
    • Lucius Fox drawing on (and then making) his son’s little kid pictures is adorable.
    • Was Luke supposed to be Batman Beyond? Or is there another character I don’t know?
    • My thoughts are that they handled Kate far better than I expected them to once it was clear they weren’t actually killing her off. An in-universe explanation of the casting change using pre-established capabilities is about the best you can ask for. The new actress is even a reasonable match given the in-universe explanation.

  3. Legends is dumb. They need to get a whistle from the bad guy, but couldn’t Gideon just replicate the noise? Or even make a new whistle? Seriously?

That said, this show is so much fun! It’s ridiculous, over the top, and they do things like have football plays to stop nuclear war, and I grin through every minute of it. I think it’s because they don’t take themselves seriously, so we don’t have to either.

    • Also, I have been behind in my viewings, but I see that Diggle is showing up all over. No sign of that green glow he picked up, which I attribute to the 2011 being so bad it ruined it for everyone.
