…But how about Capt. Janeway. SciFi Wire has a brief bit. It appears that Jeri Ryan’s new job on Boston Public conflicts with the next Star Trek film’s shooting schedule.
I have to say, to heck with Voyager, bring on those DS9 characters!

Who from DS9?
But really, who would you have on Trek X from DS9?
Worf will be in the movie, of course. Sisko is a Prophet
now. Jadzia Dax is dead, Esri Dax doesn’t deserve to be in
the movie. Bashir is a little too dorky, and Kira just
simply annoys me. Who does that leave?
Well, I have to admit it would be pretty cool to have
Garak in the movie. And Odo, of course, would be fantastic…
Re: Who from DS9?
Odo’s probably still swimming around in the Great Link. There’s still Garak, of course, Chief O’Brien, and – gag, spit – Jake Sisko. (Granted, he was never as annoying as Wesley Crusher by a factor of about a zillion, but he certainly had his moments.)
Re: Who from DS9?
Geez, I’m replying to myself. How’s that for pathetic?
Anyway. I forgot all about Quark, Rom, and the yummy Leeta. And Rom’s kid whose name I forget right now, but on the show he was off-and-on working his way through the Academy; it’s certainly feasible that, by the time Trek Ten is set, he could be a full-blown Ensign, posted to the Enterprise-E to get involved in wackiness.
Re: Who from DS9?
Rom’s son was Nog, and that’s Lieutenant Nog to you. He was promoted at the very VERY end of DS9 (it’s one of the last things we hear). Boy did his character come a long way. In DS9, even the secondary characters had great development.
But more to the point, I think I was implying that I’d like to see a DS9 movie, not just their characters in a TNG movie. Their time has come!
Re: Who from DS9?
I concur, but a DS9 movie could be a bit tricky to pull off…
As of the end of the series, at least two of the main characters are
effectively indisposed for a long while (Sisko and Odo). If they come
back, DS9 fans will want to know where they’ve been and what they’ve been
doing, and that level of exposition will annoy and confuse those
mainstream viewers that Paramount always seems to want more of (y’know,
those people that aren’t intimately familiar with the last two seasons of
DS9’s mytharc).
Yet, without those two, it just wouldn’t be DS9. Paramount pretty much
made it impossible to have a DS9 movie, given the way they ended the
series. To a certain extent, Voyager did the same thing: yeah, the crew is
still around, all in the correct number of pieces, but they’ve lost their
MacGuffin. Without the plot device of “hey, we’re stuck in the Delta
Quadrant,” they’re more-or-less just another Starfleet ship, probably no
more or less interesting than any of the other thousands of ships that
don’t have a TV series named after them.
