Another one?
Yes, Lux adapted it twice, a few years apart. Shows weren’t always recorded and reruns weren’t a thing.
It always fascinates me, listening to what the past did. There was a recent X-1 where they land of the moon, then skip over giving the speech and just enter it in the log so they don’t have to actually say it. The idea that the moon landing was televised/recorded wasn’t even a consideration the decade before hand.
…and the commercial in the middle seems to be a bit tone deaf (at least by today’s standards) towards the native Zulu tribes.
For more fun with old ads, listen to “Perry Mason” episodes, advertising Tide soap flakes. You can actually hear the campaign when they start pitching Tide as being “so mild, you can even use it on your clothes!”
Tide began as dishwashing detergent, and couldn’t get a marketing foothold, it seems.
