  1. More questions!!!!
They keep answering questions with more questions!!!! My brain’s starting to hurt. Although you just knew Bernard was going to show up.

Also, where were the other survivors living? It looks like another bunker, but then what is it for, and does it have a button…. I think I did spot the “company” symbol on the far wall.

Now, for some speculation on the one bunker. I have to say I agree with the sentiment that Sayeed stated when he said that he only knew of poured concrete like that for Chernyobl. What if the site’s powered by a reactor? It would be really twisted to have the coolant valves controlled by the computer. So you have to press the button every 108 minutes or you have a meltdown. But the question then is, wouldn’t you notice the steam coming from the reactor?

Mr. “I was in the Iraqi Republican Guard” said he thinks it’s geothermal. Small south-pacific islands are often volcanic in origin, especially those with a mountain on it.

Yes, first he said geothermal. The he talked about the concrete only being poured like that for radioactivity.

  2. The catastrophic event?
Could it be that their research into magnetic phenomena somehow started to trigger a pole reversal? There has been wild speculation that this would be very very bad. Are they injecting a pulse every 108 minutes to stabilize the planet?

Maybe the “others” are the way they are due to some side effect from the station there.

    Just a guess.

FYI, 108 is the sum of The Numbers. So that’s linked… they still haven’t really touched on where the numbers are from, and what is the nature of their power, but that sure isn’t a coicidence.

      P.S. The Numbers are bad.

  3. questions and answers to questions and speculation
okay – the bunker they were in?
the training video specified 6 bunkers. there are 5 more on the island. 4 we haven’t seen.
there were 23 survivors from the tail section – there were “about 40” from the front half (anyone want to see if that was actually 42?) – there are six numbers, six bunkers, 23 people and probably 42 people living in them (not taking into account the decimation of the second group) – anyone want to speculate on that?
and am I the only one thinking that the numbers may have been (initially) picked for their significance in other works of fiction?
23 == Illuminatus! Trilogy (huge conspiracy book)
    42 == well of course.
anyone have sources for the others?

4 is considered unlucky in most Asian cultures, especially Japanese, because it sounds like the word for “death” (interesting…), but 8 is considered lucky in Japan as well. I’ve no idea about any significance to 15 and 16 though.

Actually I think the doctor in the video says there are 3 stations but the training video said it was research project 3 of 6. So different research projects but only 3 stations? I could be totally wrong but that’s what I remember.

The beatdown bunker the other people are staying in looks interesting. I don’t think there was computer equipment at all, in fact they seemed to be sleeping in the equivalent of that office space.

Interesting that there was only 3 months worth of food left. I think this guy was getting re-stocked.

I Noticed That, Too. Also, It Was Supposed To BE Two People, So The Restocking Would Have Had To Be For Two People. A Month And A Half.. Maybe 40 Days… Which Is About A Season For This Show…

I think it’s more interesting that Jack’s seat number was
23 and Ana’s seat number was 42…. on the plane that
      is.
