Comments Blaine: Directed by Spike Lee, produced by Jordan Peele… This is the story of Ron Stallworth, played by John David Washington, so why does the IMDB list Alec Baldwin first in the cast and Amazon lists Adam Driver and Topher Grace? In case you are wondering why so many films against racism are still coming out, look at what indifferent algorithms are doing when they produce the “key” information about movies like this. They reflect the bias of the society we live in with disturbing accuracy.

Finally, the picks of the week. Alex says, “If it wasn’t for the fact that it doesn’t include Star Trek VI, I would absoultely pick up the Star Trek 4K UHD releases. Instead, I’m going with Legendary Weapons of China.” Blaine says, “I strongly recommend both the Star Trek 4K upgrade and the Some Like It Hot 4K upgrade if you support that format.”

  1. I’m holding off on the Star Trek collection until they add V and VI (I won’t watch V, but I must have it all).

12 Angry Men is excellent. Watching Jack Lemmon and George C Scott go at it is a masterclass in acting. It’s almost as good as the Lumet version (which is a lot like saying someone is almost as good a swimmer as Michael Phelps).

I will also recommend Encanto. It’s an excellent film. The writing is so sharp, you’d almost mistake it for a Pixar film. The songs are Broadway-quality (from Lin-Manuel Miranda) and it doesn’t pander to kids. If you’ve watched it already, turn the English subtitles on to get even more out of it.

    • Star Trek V is worth the fan dance, and the line “What does God need with a starship?”

Encanto is one of those movies that is playing non-stop at my house, but I am going to need to throw those subtitles on. (Bruno is over-rated, as much as Surface Pressure is underrated.)
