According to Marti Noxon, there is a
possibility that we might see a return to the
Buffyverse in the form of direct to DVD releases in
movies surrounding the secondary characters. I’d be
interested in them, but it sounds pretty early in the
discussions, so this may or may not happen.
Ripper
Wasn’t there supposed to be a show about Giles? That might be fun…
Re: Ripper
Anthony Head has a recurring role as the Prime Minister on British comedy series “Little Britain”. With Tom Baker as the series narrator, you now have two resons to check out that show :-)
Re: Ripper
Unfortunately, ASH’s part in Little Britain is pretty small. He’s in, what, one sketch out of ten in a half-hour show? I can’t say as I find that series especially funny either, but I’ve been following it anyway since I realized Tom Baker was the narrator.
I think the Ripper series fell apart a long time ago, along with the Buffy cartoon. Didn’t that idea originally come up back when they were making Buffy S6?
As for straight to DVD Buffy – I’ll watch/buy anything Joss Whedon makes. Even if it’s the Continuing Adventures of Andrew or Shopping with Harmony.
Re: Ripper
Hehe, I’m not a devout Joss fan (I just happen to be a fan of, well, everything he’s done that I saw or read ;-), but the Continuing Adventures of Andrew sound like a fun show!
Firefly?
I wonder if they could do something like this for Firefly? The movie didn’t do as well as they’d hoped yet the DVDs sold like hot-cakes.

Re: Firefly?
The movie seems to be doing well enough… and I wouldn’t be surprised if most of the people who bought Firefly DVDs buy Serenity on DVD. I certainly will… plus all the people who haven’t seen Firefly but liked Serenity. DVD sales for that should be through the roof.
So I suppose straight-to-DVD movie might be possible, but I’m still crossing my fingers for a second theatrical release. Given how critically well-received it was, after the amount of beating they’ve been taking lately for producing awful films, they may find it’s worth it just to try and salvage some reputation.
I do think it’s a crime that it’s not the second-highest-grossing film of the year though (I’d say first, but even in my ideal world I wouldn’t expect it to beat Wallace and Gromit).
Re: Firefly?
It’s in week five, and just lost 578 screening locations,
leaving it only in 309 locations. That doesn’t leave it
with much chance to pull the numbers up next week. It’s a
little dark to survive much past Halloween, but I’ll
preorder my copy as soon as the listing is available. This
theatrical release was born of DVD sales, so if we can do
the same again, we’ll be in good shape.
My Fav…
I Read A While Ago That Alyson Hannigan Was One Of The Cast Who Was Definitely Interested In Continuing On After Buffy. I’d Buy A Willow DVD. (Ya Know, Not The One With Warwick Davis…)
Then Again, This Could Just Be Hallucination.
Re: My Fav…
I had similar hopes, but then I read tfa:
Re: My Fav…
That thing is a hit? Dang… Doogie’s star power lives on!
