Finally, the picks of the week. Alex says, “On the anime side, I’m going with RahXephon – it’s a brilliantly done mecha series, with gorgeous animation and music. If you couldn’t afford the steelbook release this is definitely worth picking up. If you already own it, and don’t own Gundam SEED, that would be my other pick. On the 4K front, I’d go with Temple of Doom, if you haven’t gotten any of the previous releases.” Blaine says, “of those I’ve seen, Galaxy Quest and Temple of Doom top the list. I’ve heard wonderful things about The Beatles: Get Back, but I haven’t seen it myself, yet.”

  1. There’s something up with the comments on the releases. They seem to be off by one.

I found “The Beatles: Get Back” very interesting, in you get see how the sausage was made. The video quality is amazing considering the source.

    • Thanks for pointing out the issue with the comments. The risks of using a spreadsheet for these; if we ever cut and paste, it “helpfully” updates all links.

    • I’m repeating what others have said but, Let It Be had a story to tell about a band having issues. Get Back shows the creative process at work, and that the Beatles were coming together at least as much as they were carrying the weight that would cause them to break up. It’s worth watching. We kept asking, “wait, this is how they worked?” It’s like some naive kid’s idea of how the music industry might work, like the players were still in a bar band.

      Except the results are brilliant.

Star Trek: TAS features a few good moments.

I really enjoyed Raiders of the Lost Ark when it came out– I saw it twice in the theatre– but I never liked Temple of Doom. I doubt a repeat viewing will change my opinion.
