Aquaman gets his own series

The full details are here.
In short, Arthur Curry (who will not be called Aquaman
in the show, nor will that word appear in the title)
will be shown in his formative years, as he chooses to
protect the oceans. It will be headed by Miller and
Gough, but it won’t be a Smallville spinoff,
and won’t even have the same actor that
Smallville used. It will be on the WB
network.

Yup, it’s gonna be the new “Birds of Prey”.

God, I can just hear the execs in the meeting: “Bikinis!”

As some one who happens to like spin-offs, I feel like a bit of a hipocrite saying, “have a thought, people!”

Well, if they maned up and actually made a gorram spinoff, but no, they’re just gonna try to have it’s owm lil’ seperate universe, based around the lamest regular member of the League. It reeks of “not even trying”, and therefore it’s sure to suck.

I dunno, they’ve run through the course with superman, not only is it reasonable to go through the evolution of another one, if the same team is doing it, I have no reason to think it won’t be as good as Smallville. My only complaint is that I rather liked the actor playing aquaman in the Smallville episode… (especially in nothing but a swimsuit ;-) ). I don’t doubt they can find someone just as good or better, but it seems like a rip off for him unless they really didn’t like his portrayal.

They do this kind of thing a lot. If you look at pilots, you’ll often see at least one character with a different actor.
