  1. Trek

Even if you don’t know Star Trek, and you haven’t followed the other series, this is basically the first one, so you don’t need to come to it with lots of lore in terms of what Star Trek is or was.

This sounds like they’re trying to market it to non-trekkies. What about us longtime fan trekkies? I’m beginning to wonder if this series will be a real disapointment. They know I’m going to watch it anywayz!

I think they need to market to new fans. (That’s
probably why the new show is called Enterprise
rather than Star Trek: Enterprise.) The ratings
of Voyager weren’t great, and they probably
(correctly) assume that everyone who watches anything with
the Trek name because it’s Trek was watching that. They
need to reach the skeptical audience, and that includes a
lot of people who felt they didn’t understand the last
three films because they didn’t watch the show, as well as
people who didn’t give previous shows a chance because
they felt they weren’t getting it all. If you start with
a blank slate, you might be able to bring some new fans
      in,
and even lure lost fans back.

Well, actually, there’s a bit more to this story, but then again, if you were to follow the link to Trek Today, you’d be likely to find it :-)

There is actually a 16 minute MP3 file of the entire “interview” out there, although a lot of it has to do with things other than Trek. The original interview was done by phone with Natasha Pavlovich, an actress who has worked with Scott in the past and was kind enough to do this interview as a gift to fans attending the recent Orlando Leap convention.

We just thought it might be nice to share (and it was great of Scott to share with *us*) A lot of Scott’s fans tend to be evangelistic about the guy.

As for attracting new fans to Trek, I’ve noticed a lot of current fans are disenchanted with the recent series, so it can’t be a bad thing. As for me, I haven’t watched Trek for 6 years, by my own decision. I promised I never would again. I have to admit, the producers did the one thing they could ever do to get me to change my mind!

If any of you are interested in Scott, you can find the latest at my Scott news site (it’s not *all* rehash of Trek Today articles, tho most of the *news* is, I’ve been collecting this info for at least 5 1/2 years)

From my experience, Scott is not only extremely versatile, but also very nice (tho I didn’t give him a lot to go on, being rather tongue-tied the three times I’ve met him.)

The entire mp3 file (3MB) can be downloaded direcly from this link at the Orlando Leap site
