This show definitely took a left turn into creepy this week. I guess what’s really disturbing is watching Tom not have complete control over himself and his “people.” They’re all as different as normal people and that seems to unsettle him. I especially liked the fact that he was shocked by what he found in the cove.

okay…I haven’t watched this week’s yet…but based on everything so far…I’m not 100% convinced that tom’s really entirely *bad*. if he were, the first thing I think he would’ve tried to do is get people who were giving him problems *into* the water. Also, despite the vague sense of creepitude about them, it seems like all the people who’ve been “Taken” still remain themselves, despite having some…new…things added. no one seems to have become someone else entirely, just…a bit different.

I have to say, this started off as my least favorate of the new sci-fi shows. It was very slow going and a bit boring. Lately though, I’ve been enjoying the episodes more and the show is moving up on my list (it’s currently Supernatural –> Invasion –> Surface –> Kolchak –> Ghost Whisperer (which is getting someone repetitive)–>Threshold).

This episode clearly shows that the people who were lost during the storm are entirely new beings, a-la Body Snatchers. Although this has been done before, it hasn’t been done as much as the brain parasite take-over, which is what I assumed this was going to be.

I don’t think that Tom is evil. He still cares about his family and other people in the community. It seems that he was the first “infected” (as I’ll call these poeple from now on for lack of a better term), and as such he feels a responsibility to help guide the confused other newly infected.

This episode made it obvious that he doesn’t know everything about what’s going on. From his reaction at seeing Meryl’s body, I’m pretty sure he didn’t know that the infected are clones (or whatever you want to call them) and that their original selves are dead. On the other hand, he does seem to be working with the military and knows about those glowing fish in the water. He might not be evil, but he definately has a hidden agenda.

The infection seems to take more to some people than others. The girl in this episode is the upper extreme. It looked like she knew more of what was going on than Tom did. She had a total personality switch-over. At the other end of the spectrum, we have Meryl. She feels different, but is struggling to keep her humanity.

Lost ran an extra 5 minutes, I think they cut the scene from Invasion to make up the time.

I swiped the episode synopsis from Yahoo! on Wednesday afternoon. I concur, they must have cut the scene after delivering the synopsis to the news media. Hopefully next week?

  3. Time Slot Change?
It appears that Alias is moving into the 10pm ET time slot on Wednesday, anyone know where Invasion is going to move to?

According to ABC.com Lost and Invasion are airing normally this week. I’ll see if I can find next week’s schedule.
