Threshold Cancelled?

Zap2It is reporting that Threshold has been pulled from CBS’s lineup. There’s no confirmation from CBS as to whether or not it’s officially canned, but its lackluster ratings and schedule juggling make this no surprise.

Crap, does this mean Braga now has to time to fuc…er…work with Star Trek? ‘Cause I’m holding him to this.

If any show deserved to be canned it was that one.

No joke. I watched one episode (the one with the rave and the girl getting infected by that message from her brother) and it was pathetic. It might have had a better chance if there weren’t already a handful of other sci-fi/alien/supernatural shows starting at the same time that did it BETTER. Everyone is hoping to get on the Lost bandwagon.

Supernatural rocks, Invasion is decent, Surface is almost decent. Lost of course blows them all away.

  1. Good riddens
My wife and I have been watching this along with three other shows, and of the four or five episodes we’ve watch so far (yeah, we’re behind) I was increasingly frustrated with both the direction they were taking and the HUGEEEE plot holes. For a genre that’s been around for ages there’s no excuse for it.

  2. I wanted to like it…

I wanted to like Threshold. I really did. We had Brent Spiner in the show, and I’ve always enjoyed seeing him on the screen, and Peter Dinklage (the little person) did a good job (and he was in a serious role, which was a great change and a breath of fresh air from how little people tend to be typecast nowadays).

Ultimatly, the cast was pretty decent, but, as with all of Braga’s previous projects, the writing frelled it up.

I was pleased to see Charles S Dutton and Dinklage did well too, but I get an ill feeling any time I see Spiner anymore, his smile just turns my stomach, blame Evil Data for that one.

  3. I actually like it
I actually enjoy watching it, but I always like VOY best of all Trek shows, so go ahead and flame away. ;-)

If Threshold should actually be cancelled, what new SciFi Show should I switch to? Invasion?

In a word, yes. At least they didn’t explain the whole invasion in detail in the pilot episode.

That’s one of the things that I like about Invasion: the intrigue. Wondering what the aliens are and what they want. They don’t really seem to know themselves.

I enjoyed Threshold on a episode by episode basis, but overall the episodes were too disconnected and inconsistant with each other. If the aliens were smart at they’d do small scale infections and actualy work to keep these infectees out of the media so Threshold doesn’t catch on. Once they a good base population of infectees, they can then launch their wide spread tactics: Sperm donations, raves, email SPAM, food, etc. Threshold would be overwhelmed and unable to stop them.

I hate to spoil, but it’s Invasion of the body snatchers. : )

  4. threshold
can’t believe the posts i am reading saying threshold sucks.
good plot, decent budget ok the aliens would have already taken over given an ounce of intelligence but when compared next to shows like surface(so slow any slower any slower it would go back in time)where you wait 40 mins for two minutes anti climax at the end and Invasion where it started like a invasion of the body snatchers and then meanders miserably as the writers seem to be struggling for inspiration.Lost is cool but getting a little boring needs a injection.maybe they should find elvis or bin laden hiding on the island

We’re obviously behind in the UK, but i am enjoying this show so far. As mentioned elsewhere, shows like Lost are a bit dull as the series goes on, but so far Threshold has been great.

Guess it also really helps having such a top looking woman in the lead role. Hope Carla Gugino gets another decent role soon!!
