Aeon Flux Discussion

Well, the reviews are not what one would call “stellar.” It’s never a good sign when the studio refuses to prescreen a film. But enough of that, what do think?

I suspect that’s what the execs who gave the greenlight to this thing said.

Except that she had some scenes changed as she thought they were too revealing. Darn :-|

Oh yeah it sucked. People left in the middle of the showing I went to on Saturday. I could hear people saying "what?" or "huh?" at times too.

Thing is it kept pretty close to the cartoon and that was probably it’s failing in appealing to the masses. There was a lot of backstory that just got shoveled to us in the form of a text scroll at the beginning of the movie. Not the best way to introduce so many minute plot points.

Aeon is a deadpan character, which can be cool sometimes but Charlize just didn’t pull it off. Most of the actors phoned in their rolls and some no-name supporting characters were just TERRIBLE (the lieutenant of the guards for example). Too much CG with that weird art design pulled right from the cartoon. Some of that imagery may have made sense in animation but didn’t transfer well to live action. The chick with the hands feet for example wasn’t done very well at all :(
