Joss Says No More Firefly

When you slide that shiny new ‘Serenity’ DVD in your player tonight (or whenever it gets there), shed one last tear for the little transport that could (or, rather, couldn’t). Joss has said he’s leaving Firefly behind him to move on to other projects.

      I would have enjoyed more Firefly, but better it end than go the route taken by either successful sf “franchise” with “Star” in the title.

    Supposedly the quotes here are taken a little out of context, at least relative to other things Joss has said recently (or so sayeth the fanboys ;) Nonetheless, I think it’s pretty clear that Joss doesn’t expect to do another movie any time soon. In fact, I fully expect that this is the end, barring the inevitable comic-book spin-offs and such. I’m just not sure that Joss meant to say it so clearly just now, what with the DVD release and all…

    Shees, what a horrible misquote on EW. Here Joss clarifies what he really meant. Some journalists just mangle the heck out of everything.

    Seriously, if the DVD does well I suspect Whedon could be persuaded to do more in the Firefly ‘verse, but signing Jewell might take major $$$.

    Bought my copy of Serenity tonight for $17.99 @ Best Buy, and if you buy BSG Season 1 or 2.0 between now and mid January you can get a $10.00 rebate.

      You call that clarifying? Its total nonsense. It is infact political newspeak, the fanboys will spin it to mean “I want to make more firefly” – but he has total deniability, since he actually never said that.

    I’d love more firefly, but it seems unlikely that someone else will cough up the production costs again, and with Serenity, at least we have some closure. It answers the big questions he’d introduced in the series, and it’s a good flick that can be watched again.

      Some of the big questions, anyway. There’s still a lot of mystery around Book.

        I think his understanding of the Operative’s point of view answered a lot of those questions.

        I still have to see the extra Book stuff from the DVD to know for sure though.

    it’s a nice movie… I bought it and watched it and was satisfied with the end of this set of people. The special features don’t say much, but they’re relatively entertaining anyway. It’s over, and that’s ok.

      Firefly was one of those shows I saw coming out, said… can’t be that good and let it pass me on by. BIG MISTAKE. Bought a movie at Walmart… the Hulk… came with Serenity. WOW! I was impressed and thought… this would make a great series. Little did I know it started as Firefly… the little show that I didn’t take the time to watch. SCI=Fi channel had a marathon showing of the first 11 episodes and now I am officially a browncoat! I’ll be getting the DVD set as soon as
      my paycheck clears.
