The weekly selections are starting to improve.
They’ll look even better in a few weeks time.
First, the genre releases:
- Adventures
of
Superman – The Complete Second Season: This was
the George Reeves
series. - Classic
Comedies Collection: This includes
Stripes, Groundhog
Day, and at least one Ghostbusters
movie. (The picture
only lists the first, but the picture is of the two
movie set.) - The
Devil and
Max Devlin: I really enjoyed this when I was very
young. I don’t
know if it would hold up today. - Final
Destination Scared 2 Death Pack: The first two
Final
Destination movies in one set. I say “first two”
because
Amazon.com is also offering a sneak peek at the
third. - Fraggle
Rock –
Down In Fraggle Rock: Like other shows that appeal
to children,
it’s coming out in these “best of” style packages as
well as season
packs. - Gallery
of
Horror: Five old horror films, in one set.
Includes The
Witches Clock, King of the Vampires,
Monster
Raid, Spark of Life, and Count
Alucard. I’ve
heard of none of these. - Gravion:
The
Complete Collection: For the anime fans. - Lois
and
Clark: The New Adventures of Superman – The Complete
Second
Season: The collector in me is tempted to pick
this up, even
though this is one of my least favourite live action
versions of
Superman.
Now, the non-genre releases:
- Benji
The
Hunted: For the dog lovers out there. - Doogie
Howser,
M.D. Season Three: I remember this as a decent
show. - Enron
– The
Smartest Guys In The Room: Based on the novel with
the same title. - Industrial
Strength Keaton: This is a collection of Buster
Keaton material,
including three short films, a number of commercials
and other short
live TV appearances, and the like. - Ju
Dou: I
haven’t heard of this 1920s period drama, but as it’s
directed by
Zhang Yimou (who also directed House of Flying
Daggers and
Hero) I’d be willing to give it a shot. - Lord
of
War: This is the two disk edition of the Andrew
Niccol film.
Niccol wrote The Truman Show, and served as
both writer and
director on Gattaca and Simone, all
of which I
enjoyed, so I’ll probably check this out at some
point. - The
Mary Tyler
Moore Show – Complete Third Season: How many hats
did this woman
go through? - Mr.
Show: The
Complete Collection: I never did watch this. How
was it?
Finally, the pick of the week. I’d have to go with
the Classic
Comedies Collection. I haven’t seen
Stripes yet, but
the other titles are well worth the total price of the
package.
Wait…
How is this an improvement?
