Weekly Comics Discussion – January 25, 2006

The last comics due out this month are listed here.
The ones that caught my eye are listed below.

Dark Horse Comics

  • SERENITY TP: Collecting the three issue movie
prequel series, which I’m long overdue on
    reviewing.
  • STAR WARS KNIGHTS OF THE OLD REPUBLIC #1: A new
    Star Wars series.
  • STAR WARS TALES VOL 6 TP: Collecting some other
    materials.
  • USAGI YOJIMBO #90: I keep hearing wonderful things
about this comic based on a secondary character from
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Have any of
    you read it?

DC Comics

  • ADVENTURES OF SUPERMAN #648: This is the Superman
    title I keep hearing about.
  • GOLDEN AGE FLASH ARCHIVES VOL 2 HC: Classic comics
    from the 1930s and 1940s
  • GREEN LANTERN CORPS RECHARGE #4 (OF 6): I’ll be
picking this up. It’s been decent so far.
  • JLA VOL 18 CRISIS OF CONSCIENCE TP: I’m well
behind in picking these up, and further behind on
reviewing them. (I have 1-6, and have reviewed the
    first two.)
  • WONDER WOMAN #225: Her days are numbered.

Marvel Comics

  • ALL NEW OFF HANDBOOK MARVEL UNIVERSE A TO Z #1:
    The handbooks are back.
  • AMAZING SPIDER-MAN #528: I think this is art 12 of
12 in The Other, which I will review in TPB
form in April. (I hope to have my monthly picks up
    this weekend.)
  • CAPTAIN UNIVERSE UNIVERSAL HEROES TP: The latest
    series of issues collected.
  • DAREDEVIL #81: The final issue by Bendis and
Maleev. The solicitations for issues 82 and 83 spoil
the way this run ends, but the solicitation for issue
84 (in the issue of Previews that ships today) has a
gargantuan spoiler I wish I hadn’t read. Big things
are coming up in the world of Daredevil, and they’ve
already been spelled out. I strongly suggest that
Daredevil fans interested in the Brubaker run pick up
the next few issues without reading the solicitations
    describing them.
  • EXILES #76: The World Tour continues.
  • NEW AVENGERS #15: The second half of the
Spider-Woman arc is out. Also today, the hardcover
    version of the Sentry arc.
  • PULSE #13: Bendis’ run on this title is also
    coming to a close.
  • SPIDER-MAN BLACK CAT EVIL THAT MEN DO (OF 6):
Here it is. The latest comic to come out of Marvel in
years finally hits the shelves. Hopefully my review
    will be more prompt.
  • ULTIMATE FANTASTIC FOUR X-MEN SPECIAL: This
concludes the story begun in the Ultimate X-Men /
Fantastic Four special from last month.
  • ULTIMATE SPIDER-MAN #89: The Silver Sable arc
continues. I’m told the story began in the video
game, but I haven’t played it, so I can’t be
    sure.
