Weekly DVD Picks – February 21, 2006

It’s another odd week for the “pick of the week.”

First, the genre releases:

Now, the non-genre releases:

Finally, the pick of the week. Oddly enough, we’ve
got a week filled
with releases I haven’t seen. Based on reputation,
I’d go with the
Orson Welles or Kino sets, and based on curiosity, I’d
go with
Ultimate Avengers or Adventures of
Superman Vol. 1
,
but apart from that, I can’t really state a definite
pick.

  1. Most likely

they got Michael J. Fox and Geena Davis back on board, so there must be some merit to the script.

Or they have good contract lawyers who make people sign for any sequel or adaptation from the get go.

Those clauses usually don’t include direct-to-video material. Still, it’s certainly possible.

  2. The Weatherman
    Did anyone else see this?

The only reason I did was because I have a friend who’s a huge Nick Cage fan. I enjoyed it, but it’s definitely not for everyone – it reminded me of both Punch Drunk Love and Bottle Rocket, with a dash of American Beauty (the commercials really didn’t do it credit – I was not expecting what I saw).

  3. Action
I’m SO glad that’s coming out. I only saw like, 5 episodes and I liked them a lot.

I’m waiting for the 28th so I can get Season 3 of Newsradio.

I missed the show (like too many people) during its first run and watched the series when it aired on FX. Action would definitely be my pick of the week.
