It’s one thing when a show seems to rehash plots from another (which probably copied them from another, and so on), but it has to be embarrassing when a show starts rehashing its own plots. They even reference it. At least now we know where the season finale is going.

In many ways I would prefer them revisiting their own early stories in a fresh light than to create yet another quantum phase inverter. If anything, they should have made the connections tighter. (E.g., have Teal’c able to touch whats-his-name so we’re looking at two different aspects of the same thing. Or whats-his-name should have become visible at the gate due to the "Re-tu" scanners that we’ve all forgotten about.)

However the writers really screwed up in trying to make it humorous. The scientist looks like a buffoon, they’ve created a can of worms by having whats-his-name become visible when something happened back on earth, etc.

Also, why did Teal’c take off the cloak to help Mitchell? And shouldn’t they have double checked that what’s-his-face was dead? Surely Mitchell has seen his share of slasher films.

Remember the show where they had the TV show, Wormhole Extreme I think, that was a possible security leak etc. They mentioned this type of show and asked why people didn’t sink through the ground if they can pass through things.

It was an OK show and they had fun with it. I liked Teal’c reaction (or lack of reaction) to Mitchell showing up. The two of them are developing a nice comic relief relationship. It’s not Abbot and Costello but it does make for an amusing moment now and then. When they are paired up it is easier to forget John Crichton.

Merlin’s weapon against the ascended will be a help against the Ori, but if they wipe them out in the season finale the writers will have a hard time coming up with another enemy. They have the Bal(s) which seems to be what’s left of the Trust and the Gouald (sp). They have the Jafa potentially turning into a military dictatorship if the emerging democracy fails (see Iraq). They have the smuggler alliance. On second thought, they do have a lot going on. I think it’s OK to copy from other shows as long as you don’t get lazy and manage to make it interesting. The Borg themselves are just recycled from Doctor Who’s Cybermen with maybe a little Dalek thrown in. Just look at that South Park Episode where Butters goes crazy beacuse the Simpson’s had already done all the plots. When a show is on for 9 or 10 years you’ve got to work for new ideas.

        Exactly my point. They’re not.

One, two, thee, four days later, okay no more spoiler tags, at least not for what was explicitly stated.

Who says Merlin’s little gizmo will actually work as advertized? You think the Ori don’t know about the weapon? You think Garak didn’t tell them how the Replicators were beaten? This is theory on my part but I’d bet dinner at Applebees I know where to find that weapon.

Yeah, they haven’t hired me ;)
