Anyone see V for Vendetta yet?

This movie has been really iffy for me. It could be good, but based on the preview I have my doubts. I reserve full price theater tickets for guaranteed movies.

Anyone see V for Vendetta yet?

      Hell yeah.

It’s quite good – not perfect, but I think it far exceeded my (admittedly low) expectations.

Anyone see V for Vendetta yet?

      Yes, and it was fantastic.

IMNSHO though, I don’t think it will get the credit it deserves; it’s a high-brow thought/low-brow explosions political/action/society movie.

I’ve seen many reviews so far that said it was horrible. The message is very clear to those who will take the time to listen. Of course, I don’t expect the main-stream media to actually understand anything, and given the fact that this movie’s message is a direct attack on their "power" I’m sure that might have something to do with the low reviews.

I recommend everyone see it, even those who won’t understand it.

        Margaret Thatcher’s still in power?

        • Regarding a very different release:

As movies aimed at pre-teen girls go, it’s pretty good
          –My sister, on Aquamarine

Anyone see V for Vendetta yet?

I’ve seen it, and I thought it was one of the best movies I’ve seen in a couple of years. I haven’t read the graphic novel, so I can’t speak to how true it is to the source material.

As a stand alone movie though, I thought it was great. It’s a very intelligent movie, with a touch of action. Natalie Portman did a terrific acting job and I think should be nominated for some type of award.

It’s not a bad movie, but it’s not the book. Go read the book.

The correct order is: See movie, like it; Read book, like it more.

The book is always better. So you go see the movie first, that way you enjoy it, and then you enjoy the book.
If you read the book first, you do not enjoy the movie, because it’s not as good. So you’re happy once, disapointed once. I prefer to be happy twice.

I was happy with the movie, even though I read it first, but yes, perhaps I would have been happier the other way around.

I don’t know. There are some book/movie pairs that are sufficiently different to be both good. E.g. Fight Club, Minority Report, Blade Runner, Clockwork Orange.
