  1. the wild
the funny thing about the wild is that it was well in development before madagascar was released. oh well for them.

i recently read something one of the guys at disney (might have been lasseter, not sure) said disney is dumping the rest of the stuff in their computer animation development channel for the next year or so clearing out the crap their internal animation group was working on. they will then cut back and focus on making fewer but bigger animated movies.

You’re probably right, I’d forgotten about the great rip-offs of 1998 when Jeffrey Katzenberg left to form part of Dreamworks. He swiped both Deep Impact (Armageddon) and Antz (Bug’s Life) from the Disney playbook back then. Maybe this one was in the development pipe for a good long while.

Any references for that? It sure might explain why Disney looses so much money, if they’ve spent at least a year longer making a movie of Type XYZ than their competitor. Apparently they spent $100 million making Home On The Range, one of the shortest and most expensive (per minute) movies Disney has ever released. Lets hope Lasetter (sp) et al can fix that stupidity.
