This is a light week in general, particularly for the
genre releases.
First, the genre releases:
- Mystery
Science Theater 3000 Collection, Vol. 9: This may
sound like
sacrelige to some, but I can’t take this show. It’s
like sitting in a
theater with people who won’t shut up. - Ranma
1/2
Movie Box Set: For the anime fans who are missing
their complete
collections this week.
Now, the non-genre releases:
- Benny’s
Video: This sounds like a movie that blames
violent movies for
child violence, but then, it’s a violent movie itself,
so I could be
wrong. Kino usually does a good job with their
videos, so it’s worth
a shot. - Big
Valley –
Season One: A staple for Western fans. - Con
Air
(Unrated Extended Edition): This was enjoyable,
though I’m not sure I’d buy
it. - Crimson
Tide
(Unrated Extended Edition): My favourite
Simpson/Bruckheimer film. - Enemy
of the
State (Unrated Extended Edition): The third
Simpson/Bruckheimer
movie getting this type of release this week. - Hill
Street
Blues – Season Two: One of Steven Bocho’s early
shows. - Napoleon
Dynamite – Like, the Best Special Edition Ever!: I
still haven’t
seen this one. - The
Producers: I’ve heard great things about this from
several people,
including our very own theangrymob. - Sergeant
Preston of the Yukon: Season 1: I’m sure this is
just like the
real mounties do it. - When
A
Stranger Calls: Another Simon West film, who also
directed Con Air.
Finally, the pick of the week. I have to go with the
Crimson
Tide release. I haven’t seen this edit, but the
original edit
was excellent, so I have a lot of faith in this one.
PoTW
I think we should make a rule that you’re not required to have a pick of the week (:
The Producers
I’ll reiterate my opinion on this one, anyone who’s a fan of either Mel Brooks or musical theater will really enjoy this one. My wife and I laughed till we had tears streaming down our faces this was so good.
