“Invasion” joins “Surface” and “Threshold”

As in cancelled. While it started off slow (which isn’t smart for a new series), the latter half of the season picked up serious steam and was leading up to one honey of a finale. I assume they’ll still air the final episode tomorrow night.

  1. Link?
I appreciate the update, but is there a link as to where this is mentioned?

Personally I didn’t watch Invasion beyond the 2nd episode, the same with Threshold. Both their premises didn’t particularly interest me, nor did they hold me. Yet, somehow Surface did interest me, and despite the slower moments (and Lake Bell fan-service) I kept on watching. I’ll mourn it’s demise.

Another American series I liked that has been killed before it’s time.

Thanks for that. I’m not too au fait with how it works over there, but that doesn’t sound particularly positive at all!

[ Don’t know if it’s related, but Lost may be moving to Thursdays.

Yeah, I just love that. I’m sure its Thursdays at 8PM central too. You know I just can’t imagine why my favorite show on television and my 3rd favorite show on television can’t possibly be on TV at different times every can they? No the networks wouldn’t want that….

Well, at least my DVR setup can recorde two shows at once, now I just gotta hope that Smallville (it should really be rename Metropolis soon, in my opinion) stays on at 7 and doesn’t move to or something will have to give.

Say, I have an idea for the networks. Maybe they could put a good show on a Tuesday night, or maybe play a good show on two nights a week (see my second favorite show BSG).

This whole idea of the networks that the time of the schedule is important or the only show it once a week mentality is
        really outdated.

I started out watching it originally, maybe made it half way through the season. But once it got nicer outside it started stacking up no teh DVR to the point I just cancelled and deleted everything. I’m sad to learn it got better. But it and Lost got me to my ‘say nothing for 42 of 48 min’ threshold like three weeks in a row that I got ticked and quit watching.

  2. Sure Threshold was bad….
After watching the first episode of Threshold, I knew it would n’t last long. They had a cool idea, not original, but the main problem came from how it was written and directed.

Now Surface and Invasion were both shows that were slow at first but got better with time. I could picture them turning into really good by the begining of their third season.

The thing that we don’t see, and is what most likely made the decision for the execs is the roadmap for future seasons. I bet that neither one knew where they were going to be in by season 5. Sure they don’t have to have all the details, but the writers need to know where they would like to see the show go in that time.

  3. moving to the CW?
I spotted a rumor earlier today that suggested Invasion might be picked up by the fledgling CW network if ABC didn’t renew it.

Since the show is made by Warner Bros. TV, and the CW is the new combination of the WB and UPN networks, the reasoning made sense. On the other hand, it’s very rare for a show to jump networks, so it’s probably nothing…
