Fans of Superman, rejoice. All others, move along; there’s nothing to see here.
First, the genre releases:
- Adventures of Superman – Complete Third and Fourth Seasons: The seasons got shorter when they switched to colour.
- Equinox: The Criterion Collection releases a classic B-movie.
- Gatchaman Collection 7: I have no idea what the content is like, but the boxes sure are pretty.
- The Hills Have Eyes (Unrated Edition)
- Justice League – Season Two: Animated superheroes at their best.
- Lois and Clark – The New Adventures of Superman Season Three
- Look, Up in the Sky – The Amazing Story of Superman: Technically non-fiction, this Kevin Burns documentary about the history of the character is listed here, since most interested folks will be reading this section for sure.
- Oh My Goddess: The Collector’s Edition
- The Omen: Richard Donner’s movie in a two disk set.
- Sister Princess – Complete Collection
- Smallville/Lois and Clark/Adventures of Superman Seasons 1 Collection: The first season of each series, shrinkwrapped together.

Now, the non-genre releases:

- NYPD Season Four
- Syriana
- What’s Eating Gilbert Grape
The pick of the week is the second season of Justice League. Those guys understood Superman better than the creators of the other products out this month, and Justice League is just plain better than the Superman solo series.
Newsradio
Yes! That’d be my pick of the week, and one I’ve been waiting for for quite a while!
Look! Up in the sky!
"It’s a bird!"
Why was he excited by the thought that he saw a bird?
The documentary doesn’t have anything on the origin fans won’t already know, but it’s a good documentary, and includes some footage I hadn’t seen before: George Reeves as Superman on I Love Lucy, clips from the rarely-shown, never-aired Superpup pilot, scenes from the Superman musical.
There’s a fair bit from the forthcoming movie, but that’s no surprise.
RE: politically incorrect
While Charlie Chan understandably rattles modern sensibilities, the character is less offensive than most people assume.
