At Captain Comics, where I sometimes post, someone started a thread on non-existent comics that would be in a hypothetical ideal library. I’ve posted a variation of my response, branching off into other genre-related items, and want to ask the Bureau the question:

What genre-related shows, books, comics would you want to see, either seriously or for laughs, that don’t, and likely never will, exist?

Top genre authors writing stories set on China Mieville’s Bas-Lag.

Star Trek, the Original Series, sasons 2-5, if the best trends and the context of the first season had remained.

Star Trek as it might take place in Charles Stross’s Eschaton Universe.

A complete run of Marvel, 1972-1985, where the characters continue to age as they had been to that point.

The all-time worst online fanfic drawn by the top industry artists and/or adapted for television using really talented actors.

Dark Knight Batman meets 60s TV-show Batman.

The Partridge Family meet the Brady Bunch
and the Addams Family meet the Munsters.

My favourite horror comic stories from the late 60s and early 70s…. redrawn by Alex Ross and the late Wally Wood.

Frank Miller’s gritty take on the Banana Splits.

DVD of the revived New Scooby-Doo Movies, with guests like the Osbournes, Spider-man, Paris Hilton, Bill Gates, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, the cast of Degrassi, and the post-Crisis Catwoman.

Numerous Superhero/Mainstream media crossovers: Nightwing on Law and Order, Supergirl on Degrassi, Wolverine in the NHL, and the new Batwoman on The L Word.

Comix based on The Earth 44 Timeline and the Unified Field Crossover History of the Universe.

Online series featuring Bureau-crats as superheroes.

You’d have a tough time trying to determine the winner of that particular accolade… ;)

I was thinking of "fanfic" as a plural, so we could have a series of the top contenders, which would be eas….

No, that’d still be tough decision.

The Marissa Picard series (as I doubt you could adapt "Artemis’ Lover" for television with "top hollywood actors", and, actually, I wouldn’t want to see it animated/drawn by top industry artists, as my eyes would melt and ooze out of their sockets.)

  2. My List, in no particular order
I’d love to see Crusade finished.

The fifth season of Babylon 5 with Ivanova as captain.

Believe it or not: Star Trek Voyager if the concepts from the pilot were honored.

Star Trek Enterprise if they had actually endeavoured to show the build up to the federation properly.

Stratzynski’s Star Trek idea. I think it could be cool.

I’ve always been looking for a SciFi book with the premise of builiding a colony on a far away world after a large colony ship has crashed there. It seems I may have read one a long long time ago but I’ve never seen one since.

More from Orson Scott Card’s Worthing Saga.

Wesley Crusher in the Titan series as he should have been. I might have actually read it.
