David Eick Spoils Galactica For Us

This interview with Battlestar Galactica executive producer David Eick spoils the heck outta basically every episode of the first half of next season. Well, not really, but there’s a lot of little details in there. Read at your own risk.

Hrrm that name stood out. He’s not the guy from the UK who thinks the world is run by extra-terrestrial lizards, is he?

That’d be David Icke, but it’s strangely appropriate, given that the Cylons of the original series were originally reptilian aliens who cyborgized themselves (later eps make them out-and-out robots. Unlike the new series, they weren’t big on continuity).

I thought the original Cylons were a reptilian race that created robot servants. The robot servants rebelled and killed their masters, taking their name for themselves. I found it fitting that the new series seemed to be taking that back-story for the Cylons and adapting it for the human-Cylon relationship. Ah, well, I’m too lazy to go digging for a reference right now.

I think that might have been the case in the novels. Heck, some of the pre-publicity in Canada (where the pilot toured the theatres the summer before it premiered on television) suggested there were lizards in the Cylon "armor." Bottom line: I don’t think anyone worried too much about it.
