I’m back from my vacation, which gave me time to catch up on my reading. Reviews to come later this week.
First, the genre releases:
- 3rd Rock From the Sun – Season Five
- Gatchaman, Vol. 8 Collection: The pictures on the box are still very purdy.
- Grenadier – Premium Collection
- Hong Kong Phooey – Complete Series
- Magilla Gorilla – The Complete Series
- Masters of Horror – Dario Argento
- Nightmare Worlds: Another 12 DVD set from Digital 1 Stop.
- Princess Natasha – Season One
- Scary Movie 4: The critic quoted on the cover claims it’s the best in the series. I’ve only seen the first one, but it shouldn’t be hard to be better than that.
- Surface – The Complete Series
Now, the non-genre releases:
- Apocalypse Now – The Complete Dossier: A two disk special edition of the Director’s Cut.
- Clark Gable Collection, Vol. 1: with The Tall Men, The Call of the Wild, and Soldier of Fortune.
- Escape from the Newsroom: Another release of the excellent Canadian comedy.
- The Flying Nun – Complete Second Season
- Full House – Complete Fourth Season: An appropriate gift for young children with parents you don’t particularly like.
- Hogan’s Heroes – Complete Fourth Season: I see nothing. I know nothing!
- James Stewart – The Signature Collection: Warner has done a great job on the Signature Collection sets. This one includes The Cheyenne Social Club, Firecreek, The FBI Story, The Naked Spur, The Spirit of St. Louis and The Stratton Story.
- The Jeffersons – The Complete Fifth Season
- Remington Steele – Seasons 4 and 5: This completes the series.
- Rome – Complete First Season
- Ronald Reagan – The Signature Collection: includes Kings Row, Knute Rockne All American, Storm Warning, The Hasty Heart, and The Winning Team.
- RV: The Robin Williams movie.
- The Simpsons – Season Eight: This is the regular packaging.
- The Simpsons – Season Eight: This is the collectible Maggie Head packaging.
- Six Moral Tales by Eric Rohmer: Criterion strikes again! Man, that’s a dependable company.
- The Weird Al Show – The Complete Series
Finally, the pick of the week.
I’ve got to go with the last two seasons of Remington Steele, which was an interesting approach to a televised mystery series.
Flying
Wait, how are flying nuns not genre? (;
I was just wondering when the next Simpsons season is coming out. Yay. The last one I intend to actually buy.
I’m glad to see someone else thought Scary Movie was not good.
