    What I wanna know is, how the heck has Ricky Bobby managed to stay up there at #2? Based on the previews it looks like utter garbage with maybe a funny moment or two mixed it.

      Basically there’s no competition. If you look at the numbers on Box Office Mojo, you’ll see #2 is still pretty low. This is one of the times of year Hollywood dumps the movies they know are crap.

      It has a celebrity in it, and car chases, and based on the ads, it looks like a braindead comedy that requires no thought and will offer no intellectual challenge.

      In other words, box office gold in middle america.

      I thought it was pretty funny. It was a shut-your-brain-off-and-just-laugh kind of movie. Those are good every now and then, it depends on the mood.

      Then again I do have some pretty odd taste in movies. For example: I thought Josie and the Pussycats was a great movie. Way underrated. Too many people ignored it and missed out on the great satire of the music industry and advertising in general.
